Shout is a tiny web app for making gif slides to share on social media in seconds. Add text, images and emoji. Create your first gif!

I've added image backgrounds thanks to some feedback. If you have any other suggestions, let me know here or on Twitter @gmph

What a great little tool - just created a gif for my weekly show. Would love to have the ability to add an image without having to add an overlay of text if at all possible and would love to make square gifs too for social. You can see what I created here https://twitter.com/KrishnaDe/st... - I added some emoji too! Thanks for making this @gmph

@krishnade Thanks for the feedback Krishna! If you leave the text field blank it will show the image without any overlay in the final gif 😊 Some different sizes, like tall and square gifs would be interesting - great idea!

@gmph Thanks for confirming - it looked as though you would have to add text when I uploaded the image. really like the different fonts too. BTW as I wanted to also share it to Facebook as as they don't host directly the gif I converted it to an mp4 and it worked great! I have added you to my curations I I will certainly be sharing this with studients on my courses as a great way to create gifs on desktop

@gmph I've used the app again today and have a couple of other suggestions: - make it possible to add a slide between or at the beginning of a gif that you are creating - you might want to add another slide once you review what you have made and this would mean you did not have to start over - change the timing - could we speed up or slow down a gif - it is great to have a choice of colours to sleect from - if you could add a hex code option that would make it possible to select specific colours - as I mentioned previously I made a video from my gif for Facebook - you might want to add that as a feature at the end so people can download a gif and a video Hope this helps

@krishnade Thanks for all this feedback!

Awesome product. Thank you πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ Feature requests - 1. Add time for each frame because currently it is very slow. It will also give user to control if I want my jump from 1st frame to 2nd frame in 0.5 seconds & from 2nd to 3rd in 1 seconds. 2. Some basic examples shown on the website using Dropdown like https://daneden.github.io/animat... 3. Maybe Open Source so many people will be able to contribute to such an awesome thing & eventually make it much better. I still have ton of ideas LOL πŸ˜‚

@deadcoder0904 Thanks for this feedback! Custom slide timings are definitely the top request so far πŸ˜„

I really like this! It's super simple and relatively intuitive. Here's just a few things that I think would be cool:

- make re-ordering the cards obvious (with a "drag and drop" symbol in the top corner of each card maybe?)

- add in specific word formatting (it's possible to do this for ALL of the text on a given slide which is still pretty good)

- maybe include timers for each slide - making each slide appear for a specified length of time

Overall, I love it though! Definitely going to play with it and possibly even use it in some of my side project content.

Pros:

Easy to use, simple

Cons:

Re-ordering isn't immediately clear, no specific substring text formatting

I see lots of potential here. Thanks, Graham. I am not sure how to share except via download. Was hoping I could share via the link, but it didn't work: blob:https://grahammacphee.com/8cefe7...

Pros:

Works as advertised. Fun, simple, easy to understand.

Cons:

On my laptop, couldn't figure out how to add emoji or resize pix or reorder frames.

Graham Macphee
Thanks for all the feedback! You can drag frames up and down to reorder them. If you're on a Mac, add emoji with ctrl+cmd+space or copy and paste them in on Windows. Gifs are generated in your browser rather than hosted so you can download them then drag them into a Tweet or Facebook post to share them 😊

I love the simplicity - great MVP.πŸŽ‰ Definitely going to test this out to create some creative ads. Wishlist: Google fonts, speed adjustments, templates.

Cool app, easy to use. Maybe add a good example GIF made using this to the PH gallery above to make it clearer what a final product would look like?

Flashing lights and text is not for everybody, sure... but this one is so easy to use, it's worth a shot. Gonna see how this plays out on my webs.

Pros:

forces you to consider your message better.

Cons:

not avaiilable offline.

Shout can help you create simple GIFs from slides with options such as background color, background image and font style. It has been great and the font is well chosen. However, more options for images (like resizing or entering) would be much appreciated. :)

Pros:

Simple and efficient!

Cons:

...to simple?

Derrick

Would be good to have a send to button so you can send to your mobile phone ;-)

Pros:

So easy to use! always wanted to create my own Gifs

Cons:

none

@jacarandachick broken link when I try to share it though blob:https://grahammacphee.com/dbe120...
Graham Macphee
@jacarandachick Hey Miyanda, the gif is created in your browser and isn't hosted anywhere. To share your gif, download it then drag it into a tweet, Facebook post or anywhere else :)
