A hydropower bluetooth shower speaker that fits on any showerhead. Made from recycled ocean plastic and leveraging a hydroelectric generator, it generates 100% of its power from water — providing literally endless hours of listening in the shower.
Really neat, especially the hydropower, but don't you want the music to keep playing when you get out of the shower, and you're drying off and getting ready?
Personally, I use a cheap waterproof Bluetooth speaker that has a loop for hanging on a hook or something in the shower. This is the one I use and it works great.

Battery lasts for months on a single charge, depending on how long your morning routine is, plus you get the benefit of it being hyper portable so you can bring it with you on trips and set it up in the hotel room / camp site / etc. And it doesn't affect your water pressure at all.
@joshuapinter Hey Josh, we absolutely want to be able to listen to music before and after the shower. That's why Shower Power has a 2500 mAh battery built in. That's enough battery power to run Shower Power at max volume for 22 hours. We don't recommend listening for hours on end without the shower running but you can definitely do 10 minutes before and after your shower. My favorite aspect of Shower Power is that fact that it is always there and always charged. UE Wonderbooms are a great little speakers but I often forgot to bring it into the shower or charge it... and that's a bummer.
@joshuapinter@chaselarson Oh, awesome. Didn't realize it had a decent sized battery. That solves a big piece of the pain point. From the animations, I just assumed it only turned on when the water was running.
So, overall the process is:
1. Open shower door.
2. Press button to turn on Shower Power.
3. Pair / Connect phone and start playing music.
4. Get sexy and have shower.
5. Get out of shower.
6. Dry off and finish bathroom routine.
7. Open shower door.
8. Turn off Shower Power.
Is that about right?
If so, that's a decent flow. And I like the permanence of it, in that it is always there and has that one purpose, like you said.
I guess it will mostly come down to price point, water pressure delta and general cool factor of having your shower tunes powered by water, which is cool as heck.
Nice job!
@joshuapinter nailed it! Shower Power will automatically turn on when the water starts to flow but you can press the button to turn it on at any time. It will also automatically turn off after 3 minutes without use. The idea is to make listening to music in the shower as easy as possible.
@rossdcurrie@vladojsem Maybe they could invent a thing that does the opposite - turns my singing in the shower into electricity, which drives a small pump to increase my water pressure!?
@rossdcurrie Yes, shower power does have an effect your shower pressure (we gotta generate the power from somewhere). Exactly how much Shower Power effects the pressure depends on your starting pressure and your shower head. In order to ensure you never run out of battery, we recommend a starting pressure of 20+ PSI and not using Shower Power with any extremely low flow shower heads (which really decrease the pressure in and of themselves). With an average American home set to 50 PSI, we've found no issues in any of the bathrooms we've tested. From our testing, with a starting pressure of 40 PSI, and what we consider to be an higher flow showerhead, the total drop in pressure is less than 20% (and the showerhead is responsible for about 5% of that). That was a long-winded answer... But I can say from personal experience that the pressure drop is not noticeable (and having a speaker in the shower is quite nice).
@reidccovington Probably Thin Lizzy "Ballad of a hard man" I just hope i down bring down the shower curtain with all the hand banging and spinning around.
Congrats on the launch. Great holiday gift. Here’s my question @reidccovington, if the water is charging a battery inside how long will it last when the shower is it running? Meaning if I walk into the bathroom will it still work just as a remote speaker without the water running? Thx
@reidccovington@kensavage Great question. Again, this depends on how you are listening to it. If you are listening to an intense song on max volume, you will get about 22 hours of playtime from a full charge. If you are listening to a softer song on lower volume, you can can 60+ hours of play time. We do not recommend doing this very often because it can take a while to charge. However, if you are mostly listening to it while you are in the shower, you won't have any issues.
Helps me rock out in the shower, awesome. Helps me drown out my wifes terrible voice when she showers, priceless 🤣. I play my music on my speakers outside the shower and its always dulled and especially for podcasts I can barely hear it unless im really cranking my krks--this looks awesome, can't wait to get my hands on one!
@davepoly I am a huge proponent of cold showers. Ice cold water + music in the shower = my morning routine. The cold water wakes up your body and the music wakes up your mind. Add in a peppermint shampoo and jam out to some third eye blind... great start to the day!
@reidccovington Same! Well, I’m up to the last 2 minutes being a cold shower, at least. I gotta check out peppermint shampoo. Throw some Sugar Ray into that mix and I’m ready for the day.
Thanks for all the love! For anyone reading the comments now... we are doing a LIVE demo of Shower Power right now on Instagram LIVE: https://www.instagram.com/ampere...
See you there!
Thanks for hunting @chrismessina and what’s up Product Hunt!

🚧 We’ve been developing Shower Power for more than two years now and we launched it on Kickstarter a few weeks ago because we need this product now. We're listening to more content at home than ever before. If you're like us, you've got music and podcasts streaming at all hours. But there's one place in the house that's tough to get good sound — the shower. Existing waterproof speakers just don't cut it. So, we made a speaker that you'll love using in the shower, everyday.
🎵 Shower Power is a hydropower shower speaker. It’s completely waterproof with an IPX7 rating, is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 and houses a 5W speaker — providing literally endless hours of listening in the shower.
💧 Leveraging a proprietary hydroelectric generator, Shower Power generates 100% of its power from shower water. An internal battery of 2,500 mAh stores more than 20 hours of power so you can continue to listen to music even when the shower stops.
🚿 Shower Power installs onto almost any showerhead and, once installed, it never needs to be removed. In addition to running 100% off hydropower, it’s also made from 100% recycled ocean plastic.

@chrismessina@reidccovington Out with the old, in with the new! Now I don't have to feel bad about playing music & singing (very poorly) in the shower, great idea & great looking product. Well done guys!
@mr_harun I am sure that such a product will be a success in the future because it gives a lot of opportunities for the modern man. I'm talking about the opportunities that may meet us all in a couple of years. I mean that soon there will be new devices that will surprise us every day. Maybe it will be Stainless steel trash can for home or wireless microwave ovens from Tesla. No one knows what progress will create in the future. That is why we should be more aware of what is happening in our world.
@pian_istien many baths do not have the standard 1/2 inch NPT threads that the shower fittings do. If yours does, then you can certainly connect shower power to the faucet as you fill up the bath and use the battery to listen to music while in the tub. That being said, we did not design Shower Power with that use-case in mind so you will have to be careful about how long you listen to Shower Power with no water flowing through it (after all, it is "Shower" Power not "Bath" Power... way less catchy).
