Hey PH! Sideline is a sports app built on top of Reddit’s sports communities. Reddit is one of the best places to discover content, learn from others, and feel close to your favorite teams, but, it’s an old platform and can be quite overwhelming. So we wanted a modern app built specifically for this little slice of Reddit that we frequent every day. The same Reddit community, just supercharged for fans. How is it better than Reddit? We’re starting with game threads. In every NBA team’s subreddit, the mods create threads for the game. Come tipoff, thousands of fans pile in to chat about the game together in real-time. Awesome right? Well we also saw all the ways in which we could make it better. So we got chatting with every fan we could, and built the features we knew game threads needed: live scores, box scores, toggle-able comment sections & chat-like commenting. Just tap a game and you’re in. What’s next? We want game-time to be special. Games connect us to the teams, the fans, and of course the players. So we want to 10x the game experience. If you want to comment or upvote content on Sideline, then you can log in or create an account. 🏆 Which sports are on Sideline? Sideline currently supports NBA and NCAA basketball. We're adding other major sports — NFL, Premier League and Champions League, MMA, MLB — in the coming months, so stay tuned! 🏆 What is a Reddit client? A Reddit client connects to Reddit’s back end to pull data, but has a custom front end. So comments, users, and content on Sideline comes via Reddit’s API, and the UI/UX and certain features (scores, stats, toggles) is custom-made for sports fans! -Drew & Tommy
