Not just a milestone—but a massive update that improves every part of Sketch's performance & experience.

If you're designing, you owe it to yourself to check all the good stuff and great things we added and improved since the last time you tried Sketch.

v100 — wow, quite the milestone. And a terrific set of improvements, from better prototyping to new scroll group areas to an all-new command bar! Here's the full list to check out:
  • Scrolling areas in prototypes You can now make any group of layers scrollable vertically or horizontally (or both) in prototypes. You’ll find the Make Scrollable option under the Prototype tab in the Inspector when you select a an existing group or multiple layers (we’ll even group those for you).
  • Hover, press and toggle effects in prototypes You can now show or hide layers on hover or press, as well as toggle a layer or overlay’s visibility on click, in prototypes. You can also trigger Overlays on hover or press. You’ll find all these options under the Prototype tab in the Inspector when you select a layer or Hotspot.
  • Command Bar Press ⌘K in any document to quickly access almost any action you’d find in the menu bar or activate with a shortcut — including those from your favorite plugins. Over time, the Command Bar will learn your preferences and bring your most-used actions to the top of the results.
  • Discover in the Mac app You’ll find a new Discover tab in the Workspace window, giving you instant access to our latest product news, guides, tutorials and more.
  • Permissions Groups Admins on a Business Plan can create groups of Workspace Members, making it far easier (and quicker) to manage who can access projects and documents.
  • Archive projects Admins on a Business Plan can archive projects in their Workspace that are no longer active, making it easier to find and focus on what’s in play.
  • Pin documents and projects You can pin Workspace documents in the All Documents view and projects in the sidebar. Pinned documents and projects are private and personal — so you can use them in a way that makes sense to you.
  • Canvas Minimap We’ve added a handy Minimap to make it easier to find your way around a large Canvas. Whenever you have layers outside your current view, the Minimap will appear in the bottom-right corner. You can click on the Minimap or drag the highlighted section to navigate around the Canvas, or hide it altogether by pressing ⌃M.

@chrismessina thank you for the kind review and the summary Chris! You know we're big fans of yours over here. If you have any questions about v100 I'll be happy to get to them, just reach out 😊

I didn't know It had a web app now. Nice!

It is nice to see that Sketch is still in the game. Since the last changes on Figma with Dev mode, progress is in design and development I can say interrupted. Now if you want a proper Inspect mode it cost additional fees. I hope Sketch will continue upgrading its features so we can have good alternatives to Figma. Web UI looks fantastic. ⭐️
Jaime Creixems
@serkanmercan thanks a lot for the kind words! We're here to stay and we have some great things coming up in the mid-term 😉… and btw, devs on Sketch? they're free. they're unlimited. No tricky pricing, nothing of the like. Clear, transparent pricing…. if you're designing you pay for a seat, if you're viewing, you can comment, get handoff, test prototypes, all of that for free.

Sketch is a great program and this only makes it better. This is why the CI HUB Connector is integrated into it. The whole Sketch team can be proud of this.

Love that you keep shipping amassing shit at an equally amazing cadence. Also can never get over just how much better the design of Sketch itself is than competition. Figma looks like an unfinished wireframe to my eyes whereas Sketch is a beautiful gem. 💎😍

@micahelbuss A well designed product for a designed enlightened audience. We can't see it being any different. Thanks for your kind words! It makes all our efforts worth it.

Ever since I became a product designer, I've been using Sketch, and it's been almost 7 years now. I'm honored to have been part of the growth journey of such a great design tool. Congratulations on the release of v100—a milestone in design tools! These past years, coincidentally, I've also been working on a design tool for the AI era, and I look forward to exchanging ideas with you! By the way, a little side note: I'm thrilled to see the many enhancements you've made in the advanced prototype features in this version. I remember when I used Sketch for prototype design and had to rely on other specialized tools for some effects and transitions. It seems the new features can seamlessly solve these issues. I'm happy for your release!
Jaime Creixems
@bryantchen thanks for all the kind words. We're honored to have you as a loyal user all these time. Here's to the next 7 years! If you have any feature requests please share it with me. We're always listening to your feedback.
Julie Su
@bryantchen It's great to see old users still supporting Sketch, finally we can stop prototyping with other tools!

Bad business decision to vastly limit the market by having it available on few platforms and no free teer. I hope it's not reflective of the narrow talent capabilities.
The web app UI will get Sketch a lot more new users. I wonder if the next step will be to compete with Figma!
Jaime Creixems
@jgani We don't want to compete directly with Figma. We believe there's space for both of us and more in the UI design app market. We do want to have the most enjoyable experience for UX/UI designers out there. It's not about feature count for us, it's about giving you the tools you need and make them enjoyable to use them. Happy to take and feedback or requests you might have for us and bring them back to the team (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
@webjac I'm not a designer so please take my comment with a grain of salt. In a previous job my lead designer moved our entire org to Figma solely because he concluded we'd collaborate better on it. It's great that you're focusing on UX as your UVP but collaboration could be a big one to help Sketch grow.
Jaime Creixems
@jgani oh! we got all of that already in. Live collaboration, commenting, handoff, version control, team management and a cloud workspace. It's all in our current offering 😊

Just hit that upvote button. The promise of smoother prototyping and a shiny new web app caught my eye sounds like you folks have been busy bees. but how's the learning curve on the new updates for someone who hasn't opened Sketch in a hot minute? Props for the hustle!
Jaime Creixems
@aman_wen I think you'll find all the new features just as easy to use as any other. But if it turns out to be a little trickier I'll be happy to show you around. You can book a time for a little demo at https://skt.ch/jaime

This Sketch update truly seems like a game-changer for designers. The addition of scrollable areas in prototypes, hover effects, and the Command Bar for quick access to actions are notable improvements. The Permissions Groups feature and Canvas Minimap also offer practical enhancements for project management. Worth considering for optimizing design workflows. Upvoted. On another note, we're launching Shockwave, a social media marketing platform on Saturday! Our mission is to help brands and creators significantly increase audience engagement through gamification mechanics and social farming. We'd love for you to join us by clicking 'notify me' on our coming soon page. Infinite thanks to everyone who will do it.
Jaime Creixems
@matteo_magliozzi thanks for the kind words! And best of luck with the launch. I'm curious… Did you design Shockwave using Sketch?
Matteo Magliozzi
@webjac I've been using Figma, but I wasn't familiar with Sketcher until now. I'll give it a try for the next project; it seems very useful.

Congratulations on the launch! 🎉 Wish I had known that Sketch had all of this, I would've definitely given it a go to make the prototype of my product! It looks really great!
Jaime Creixems
@mplebl There's always a chance for the next project right? I'll be happy to show you around so you know the full power of Sketch. If you're interested, please book a call at https://skt.ch/jaime
