Hey, Product Hunt! I’m Salman, product manager for the new actions feature from Slack Actions turn Slack messages into inputs, enabling people to set work in motion and make sure nothing falls through the cracks between Slack and the tools they use for work. Actions enable better discovery for integrations, putting apps front and center in the Slack UI. Apps with actions can appear on every Slack message in a workspace – and there’s no need for people to remember a slash command, or message a bot, to invoke your app. A collection of Slack apps – like Jira, Asana, Hubspot, BitBucket, and Zendesk – support actions today! https://slack.com/apps/collectio... You can also build actions into your own custom apps by visiting our API site: https://api.slack.com/actions. And, join us in June for a live online session: we’ll walk you through the process of creating an app with actions from the ground up. Sign up here: http://buildingwithactions.splas... We’ll be hanging out here in between sessions for Spec, our developer conference, so ask us anything below! Cheers.

@salmansq This is great. We've been waiting to build with it for existing actions and attachments in Pingpad. Will be interesting to see what distribution effect it has.

@salmansq great feature! i think this opens up a lot of great possibilities! I have a question: will the list of actions be limited to the apps that exist in the channel? the last bullet in the documentation seems to suggest that the list of available actions will include all apps installed in the workspace that support actions and if an action is called without the app in the channel, the user will be prompted to add the app to the channel. (apologies if I misunderstood the documentation). If this is the case, I think that I would end up seeing a long list of actions that I won't ever use. My company uses one slack workspace and each department uses their own productivity apps. It'd be nice to only see the actions that I plan on using (which would be the apps that are installed in my channels). thanks & congrats on the launch!

FYI Karmabot supports Slack Actions now too ;) https://slack.com/apps/A22354MPX... Less typing, more tapping.

Hotkeying should be available

Pros:

Now is easier than ever to act from messages on Slack.

Cons:

Commands are not yet very intuitive.

That demo showing addition of an internal note right from Zendesk was excellent! 👌 Cannot wait to see all the Actions that launch in the coming days!
