The Beddr SleepTuner is a tiny wearable sensor that uses an optical sensor and accelerometer to measure blood oxygen level, stopped breathing events, heart rate, position, and time in bed, much of the same data as a sleep lab.

I've been wearing an ŌURA Ring which provides some high-level sleep stats. Although for me it essentially reports when I already know (yes, I know I didn't sleep well because I woke up throughout the night). I find the reports interesting but not actionable. Curious how Beddr compares to this and other sleep trackers. 🤔

@rrhoover Reports are always tricky! Because it's often "oh yeah, I did wake up a bunch last night." We really want to help people get to the bottom of the issue - so more changes and offerings to come, not just with the device, but with sleep coaching and access to telemedicine. Currently, that's only available to employers, but we'll be launching that so that individuals can get access to understand what's really happening. It's important to know whether or not you have sleep issues and if they are physical, psychological, or lifestyle. As I noted, letting our dog sleep with us, while cute, is really detrimental to our sleep. For now, I'll live with it, but it's a pure lifestyle thing that could make my life so much easier.

This is a passion for me and I've tried a lot of different devices and apps. The Oura Ring (which is fantastic but more for tracking things other than sleep), Withings Aura, Eight Sleep Pod and app, Beddr Sleep Tuner, Fitbit, and others. The Eight Sleep Pod has been life changing for me and my wife in terms quality of sleep (it's a mattress that includes a layer that provided independent temperature control on each side of the bed and automatically adjusts throughout the night.). Beddr is fantastic for all the reasons that Carla mentioned (above). I sleep so much better with the Eight Pod but Beddr uncovered some issues that I wasn't aware of (and that I'm now treating w/ my doctor).

I came across Beddr when doing research on sleep related companies and became passionate about what they were doing to help people identify issues with their sleep. Beddr is an FDA registered device that makes it easier to get true measures around sleep. You can accurately monitor oxygenation, detect breathing issues (the device tracks the number of stopped breathing events every hour), heart rate, and your sleep position. The device is worn on the forehead, so I always feel a bit like Vision, but it's because that's the optimal place for measurement. In talking with the team before I joined full time, their dedication to being medically sound was impressive. The data on my own sleep has been illuminating and helped me to realize how much our dog is waking me up at night, even on a subtle basis, forcing me to sleep in odd positions and keeping me from as much side sleeping as I would like. I joined a few months ago and am excited to help the team do even more in the months to come to help people find their best sleep.

Can tell you if you're at risk for sleep apnea - beyond just how many hours you slept (which, let's face it, most people know if they slept a lot or not enough without the help of a tracker).

Have you thought of implementing sensor mechanism to AppleWatch?

I love this space. I've tried several sleep trackers let's see how this compares. I like the Oura Ring, but curious to see how this feels because it's on the forehead

@edisonjoao6871 Do let us know -- we are also going to roll out sleep coaching to folks too. We launched this to employers earlier this year, so the device is paired with good information about sleep. Sometimes it's things you know, and then other times you realize what you need to do sleep better. You results will be different than a finger, so if you have specific questions, please drop the team a line at support@beddrsleep.com
