This reminds me of an app called Greplin/Cue that created a searchable "personal cloud" - I think it shut down at some point so glad to see someone else take another go at a consumer product like this. And this one seems even niftier/more useful with the habit learning stuff.
@amicel@abargmann Good eye Alex, we definitely want to create a simple interface where you can interact with all of your personal data. It'll be easy to find, and simple to act upon.
Had a chance to get on the beta of Snips. Really cool product from a super smart team! I'll let them share the details.
EDIT: Snips will be demo'ing at the #BotTO meetup in Toronto on May 25th (www.botmeetup.com)
Looks fascinating! Do you have a list of integrations anywhere? Curious what apps I can currently give you access to. PS- hope to see some women on the leadership team soon.
@lizco hello Liz. Currently, we integrate with calendars, contacts, emails, location.... but we will be adding a lot more in the coming weeks and months
@lizco otherwise, yes, you are right. Relative #fail on the gender diversity here. But we're working on it... the ratio right now is 1 to 10, and on non technical roles :(
Just signed up for Snips and I can imagine its potential. Pretty excited about it. :-)
A quick feedback:
I was pretty bummed when it said I hadn't visited any countries/places. I'm not sure where it's fetching this data from. Would be great if it could read my previous check ins from Facebook.
@100stevetam Yo! Looking forward to giving this a try. Signed up for text this morning and never received. Just did email a few mins ago and have yet to receive anything. How long should this take?
Early tester through the beta program, I can assure you the app is super smart. At first you don't really get any added value as it has to "learn" from your habits... but then after a while, you really enjoy.
@chrismessina For example last week, I went to a restaurant but it wasn't related to any event from my calendar (the address wasn't easily accessible on my phone). Snips remembered it and put it in my timeline!
As it was a great place, I wanted to share it with a few friends. Instead of Googling around to find the address, I just checked in my timeline, found the place and directly copied the address. Super easy.
@chrismessina@troblous Hey there Chris! One of my favourite features in the app is how it streamlines the way I get to meetings. Rather than jumping between calendar apps, emails, and uber, Snips lets me check my calendar, message attendees and deeplink into transit apps all in one place. After a little while it starts making suggestion based on my movement patterns too!
@the_minh this actually depends on how "entropic" your life is ;-)
Some of the things you should see suggested in Snips, without having to wait:
- addresses contained in a text you copied
- hotel, airbnb, restaurant, event and flight reservations
- upcoming meetings
And of course, you can always just search for them easily if they weren't suggested!
Hey Product Hunt!
I'm Rand, co-founder and CEO here at Snips. Really proud to show our first iOS product to you!
Snips is an "intelligent memory" for your phone, which enables you to access all your data in a single place.
Simply give Snips access to your calendar, contacts, email reservations, and location and it will weave your data into a knowledge graph that you can query any time you need to find an address, head to a meetings, or dig for a reservation.
But perhaps most importantly, it is Private by Design, running 100% locally on your device. This means no one can see your data, except you.
We'd love for you to check it out and let us know what you think!
ps: full blog post here https://medium.com/snips-ai/the-...
@100stevetam I have. It just added me to the snips community in G+. where I see a post "Android version coming in june". Now what?
EDIT: okay i've become a tester, but getting a "We're sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server." from google play. maybe it's not available in Israel?
Very cool signup process & UX, finally something new in the UI field (took a lot of courage), can't wait for the "intelligence" to take hold, could be a Google Now replacement..., thumbs up guy's & gals ;-)
Product looks good and the UX is refreshing :) But I use outlook for email. Is there a way I can connect to outlook? Also what about my work calendar if I don't sync that with my iOS calendar? Is there a way to use snips with that?
@sornakumar We are working on further integrations at the moment. Currently we only support calendars in native sync with your iPhone, but that will change soon. We will keep you posted!
@brunowong Thanks Bruno - I personally use Snips every time I am about to head to a new location. Whether that's a meeting, a restaurant, or a city, the app always knows where you're about to go and the fastest way to get there!
Hi Snips team. I really love your product. Had the chance to try it briefly.
I really like the fact that it's Private by Design. Quick question: What happens if I lose my phone ? Is there a way to stock all my datas somewhere to prevent lossing everything ?
Good luck to all of you !
@loloamoravain thanks!
Right now, you would lose your data. But we are working on an encrypted backup system, similar to what you have in your password manager. You will be able to store an encrypted backup of your data in dropbox etc.
