Hello Product Hunters, my name is Jesus Vazquez, I'm a no code developer specialized in Bubble.io. Today I would like to introduce you to Societal Labs, a Bubble.io template to help you launch your own social media platform without writing a single line of code. This is the second launch of Societal Labs this year and this time we have a feature packed launch. Since our last launch we have added these features: - Added private posts. Now users will be able to select the level of privacy of their post when publishing them - Added privacy features for users to prevent others from seeing their posts when the post is set to be seen by Followers Only or the user itself only - Added social media links to profiles - Turn post comments on and off by post creator - Active users indicator next to the user's profile image - Added a widget to the home page showing the business pages the Current User manages. Also, added a link to the same widget to create new business pages - Added basic charts to the admin dashboard - Added Two-Factor Authentication - sending an email with a one-time code to the user’s email address - MailerLite integration - Added User Invite feature allowing users to enter email addresses to send invites to other users as part of the sign-up workflow. - Added first name initial as a placeholder when a user doesn’t have a profile picture uploaded - Implemented a password policy requirement for all account creations to improve security. From now on, users must add a password with at least 6 characters including at least one lower letter, one upper case letter, one number, and one special character. - Added link previews in posts - Added communities, our version of Facebook Groups - Added Business Profiles, our verison of Facebook Pages - Added native Events listings We also improved a lot. Since then we have: - Improved the design of the template and the responsiveness in mobile devices - Made improvements to the landing page design - Fixed over 100 bugs and issues We truly believe everyone should be able to build their own social media platform with no code and our mission is to make it easy for everyone. 🤔The problem I’m looking to solve with Societal Labs Communities are mainly launched in one of two type of platforms, SaaS platforms or free social media sites. The problem with both of these solutions is the lack of control over your community data, design and feel of your community. With Societal Labs you have control over everything. You can change as little (colors and fonts) or as much as you want (layouts and extra pages) in terms of design, develop new features and have 100% over your data. In addition, you get to monetize your community and platform however you want, sorry Facebook, you won't continue making bank because of us. 💆‍♂️ The problem I see with free social media sites When you stop for a moment and consider the amount of work it takes to build your community, you would think you have a big upside in terms of monetization of your community. Unfortunately, the sad reality is that Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other free social media sites depend on you growing your community and posting great content for them to make billions of dollar per year. You’re left out of the equation, even though you were the one keeping your users engaged. Additionally, you, as the community owner, spend lots of time, effort and money to grow your community and to attract new users just to find out Facebook decided to reduce the reach of your posts or you have been inexplicably banned from the platform. Lastly, your community data is not yours, it belongs to the platform to do as they which with it. There are lots of variables and not enough control as the community owner. The problem I see with SaaS social media solutions Similar to the data issues presented for the free social media sites, SaaS solutions don’t provide you with the full view of your community data. While they offer more transparency than social media platforms, you don’t get to keep the full data picture you could with a self hosted solution or a Bubble template. In addition, while there’s a higher level of flexibility when it comes to design, there’s not nearly enough. 🫡 The solution I propose The goal of the Societal Labs template is to make it easier for community builders, no code developers and non technical founders alike to launch their own social media platforms. Similar to self hosted solutions, you, as the site owner, get 100% freedom to build your site the way you want it. Additionally, the data is 100% yours, without having a third party analyzing it, using it to market their product or restricting you access to it. I developed Societal Labs on top of Bubble.io as a template. This allows you to take this template and modify it using an easy to use drag and drop interface. You can also change fonts and colors using a drag and drop editor. I would love to hear from you and your feedback. Hope you find it useful! 💪
