Folder Colorizer makes significant folders stand out on a cluttered desktop. It's built for Mac users whose life depends on color to navigate successfully between folders. You can change folder color, add emojis or a special image background.
Another affordable, handy app from @joshsoftorino and the team at Softorino! This one looks useful if you do any amount of local file management or just want to customize your desktop experience like you do your Home Screen!
The tiny dots that Apple came up with hardly show up and are essentially worthless.
This app, Folder Colorizer, is simple and to the point and just what I need. Congrats 🍾
I have been using Softorino apps – @joshsoftorino – for a good few years now and the addition of Folder Colorizer is a welcome addition to the family. It has a multitude of options for adding images, icons and emoji to your folder designs – it isn’t just for adding coloured folders.
First off – @chrismessina, thank YOU for hunting us. And for using our apps.
Hey there! 🤗
I’m Josh, CEO at @softorino. Originally we created Folder Colorizer for Windows in 2011, and with ten million happy users so far – we figured that it’s time for macOS.
Today, I’m stoked to introduce our newest software – Folder Colorizer for Mac.
🚀 What’s Folder Colorizer?
As the name implies – This is a handy app to change folder color on Mac in 1-click. As a result, Folder Colorizer for Mac brings life to macOS by injecting color & emojis into folders.
🤬 The Problem:
By default, all folders on Mac are baby-blue. A typical macOS user has a ton of generic file folders and subfolders, it can be tough finding the one you need. This is frustrating, especially if you're in a hurry.
✅ Our Solution:
Folder Colorizer will help Mac users quickly target vital folders for easy access. Thanks to unique folders created using Folder Colorizer – Mac users will be pleasantly surprised at the difference in not just their mood, but the efficiency of navigation. Simply put – It's an app to make significant folders stand out on a cluttered desktop.
🧑💻 How Does It Work?
Folder Colorizer will set color to any folder on macOS. The interface is simple and intuitive allowing color change in just 3 simple steps:
1. Drag & Drop one (or multiple) folders into Folder Colorizer
2. Select color, add emojis, image or symbols for total personalisation
3. Click “Colorize Folder!”
🖥 What Features Makes It Special?
• Cross-system Compatibility
Colorized folders keep their style when transferred to another Mac or external drive. Style is attached to the folder.
• Multiple Folders in 1-Click
Save time by applying bulk color changes to multiple folders.
• iCloud Folders Support
iCloud and shared folders keep their style and are displayed with styled icons on all Macs.
• Smart Search
Using the search bar, you can easily find the desired image, color, emoji or decal.
• Revert to Original
You always have the option to reset to default and quickly revert to the original folder color.
• History of Every Step
For those who love to experiment. It’s easy to go back to every change you made.
• AI “Magic”
A “Magic wand” feature uses AI to recognizes the names of folders and offers the most appropriate colors, emojis and images. Simply drop your folder and let magic do the rest.
🔜 We plan on making it even better!

Yes,
Another colourful gem, convenient for many scenarios, user-friendly, of course because Softorino.
Solid addition to the already outstanding line of applications.
Moreover, Folder Colorizer is included in "Universal Licence", which comes highly recommended.
Thanks Team Softorino!

Great idea, and I was so into it I downloaded it immediately, only to realize that the pricing model for this is utterly stupid. Not to mention misleading. The site displays a price of roughly $3, only to then bait-and-switch you into a $35/mo price. Really lame.
This app is worth $3, one time, and is not compelling enough to warrant a subscription of any kind, let alone $35/mo.
Super interesting product, but the pricing schema and coupling it with other apps that users may or may not need/want, makes it a hard pass for me. $300 for a one time payment is a great value, if you want/need the app bundle. Beyond that, I'm sorry guys, but I hesitate to recommend, which is a bummer because I think the fluidity and UI on this app is outstanding.
Love it! I have been colourising my folders for years, but this just makes it so much easier and with way fewer steps. Highly recommend. Even the techs at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store were impressed, and said they had never seen a customer colorise their folders before! :)
