Seems super cool, but I imagine it's cost-prohibitive for your target market... As a former musician, I know how often we can be broke. Paying $99 for a metronome seems super high when I can get a great digital metronome with a million features for $10-20
Florian Simmendinger
@bradherman Hey Brad, thanks man. Glad to hear you think it's cool and see value in it. It's true that not everyone can afford a $99 USD metronome. But if you can, we feel like it's definitely worth the premium over a $20 metronome. Some features of our platform solution that you wouldn't get in most other products: - Save songs in the app library and create your own setlists. This means you don't always have to recreate every setting and you'll also be able to share it with others soon. - Set accents on beats with different vibrations/lights/sounds - Connect other hardware products like Bluetooth footpedals to control the setlists & playback - Connect it with audio workstations like Ableton or Logic - And of course using vibrations instead of sound to intake the beat, to make using a metronome fun and natural instead of rather annoying

Great job applying the wearable to a niche market

This is cool but I wonder if it's possible to put an app that provides similar functionality on the Apple Watch/Android Wear Edit: Found one - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/...
Florian Simmendinger
@iamcoreyg Hey Corey, yep of course we know of this. There are multiple issues with the Apple Watch for this use case. For one, the vibration is far too weak (ours is 700% more powerful). Second, Apple does not allow access to vibration motors while the screen is off and so the device turns itself off while playing music all the time. Some Android Wear devices are a bit better in that regard, but you still lose out on features like multi-player synchronisation, the capacitive touch for tapping, the LED ring as visual indicator, etc. If you can afford $99 USD, we feel it's a great investment in your music gear to buy a Soundbrenner Pulse 😬
Corey G ™
@simmenfl Hey I did try that app and you're definitely right, it's too weak! As a musician, your product definitely seems cool and I don't think it's overpriced.
Florian Simmendinger
@iamcoreyg Awesome, thanks Corey!

Thanks for the hunt @nzieber! Every musician in the world needs to be able to play on the beat, from beginner to pro. Timing is SO important! 🕐 Anyone who has watched Whiplash knows what I’m talking about haha. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any innovation since years in the field. We started Soundbrenner because we wanted to change that. Our goal is to build the best tools in the world for rhythm practice and to highlight the importance of it. The Soundbrenner Pulse is a smart, wearable, and vibrating metronome which allows you to FEEL the rhythm instead of listening to the rhythm with an annoying click. Feeling the beat is better, because it allows you to hear your own music and stay in the moment. Here are some cool features about the Soundbrenner Pulse: - The vibration motor is 700% more powerful than that of an Apple Watch - You can wear the device on your wrist, arm, leg or around the chest for the ultimate experience - Intuitive interactions, such as tapping on the device to change the beat - Synchronise up to 5 devices with your band - By the way, the app also works standalone and is completely free for Android and iOS. Check it out here: iOS: https://appsto.re/hk/XxCH-.i & Android: https://goo.gl/bEixzZ If you would love to get your very own Soundbrenner Pulse, use “PH20” discount code for 20% off on your entire order 😃 Excited to show this to the community and see how many musicians and music fans we have here! What do you guys think?

@simmenfl Hi Florian, my oh my what a journey this has been for you and the team! From a prototype with duct tape to a fully fledged product you've made it! What part of the pulse are you most excited about and why?
Florian Simmendinger
@nzieber Hey Nick! Yes, it has definitely been an awesome journey! From a Startup Weekend in Berlin and flying all the way out and setting up in Hong Kong, it's been quite the roller coaster haha. When we started 2 years ago it was definitely the opportunity of building a device that helped musicians everywhere in their day to day lives. This is also just the start! With more features, updates, products in the pipeline, I am excited about how the Soundbrenner Pulse can kickstart an impending revolution in the music industry. :)

This could be something really neat!
Florian Simmendinger
@tjapie Thanks Daniel. We try our best to make it as neat and awesome as possible 👍

This is what IoT will look like in a few years! Put the brains in individual objects, not just the smart phone.
Florian Simmendinger
@mcgrawbridget Thank you Bridget! There will be good and bad applications. We focus all our efforts to add meaningful value by using more technology, instead of just adding complexity.

Good stuff! :-)

@matonias Hahaha, well that gives us some ideas

I have been using this since christmas, I super love it. As a performer on stage, I don't really see its value, because I use something called my ears to hear... but for someone who doesn't have good timing, its great. I use it mainly to practice piano.
Florian Simmendinger
@devon_devo_frohne Hey Devon, we tried our best to use a standard Micro USB plug for this very reason, but the issue with this is making it sweat proof. Unfortunately there is no sweat proof charging standard. Fitbit, Samsung, Garmin, Pebble, etc. all use different ways of charging their wearables which can be annoying to the consumer. Hopefully a new standard will emerge at one point! That being said we spent quite some effort to optimize our charging experience, for example it was important to us that you can charge it while the device is in the band (unlike Fitbit). It's also magnetic, easy to align, has a clear charging indicator, etc. so hopefully we did not too bad of a job overall with this 😉
Florian Simmendinger
@devon_devo_frohne Glad you love it and see value in it! We see the device mainly as a practice tool and as you know, it's super important for beginners and pros alike to practice their rhythm! Some musicians also like to use it on stage just like they would with their in-ear monitors and that's possible too. It depends on the player :)
