Notality lets you transcribe your voice directly from your Apple Watch or iPhone to your Notion workspace. Choose any Notion database to store your transcriptions and start transcribing whether you're driving or you just don't feel like typing.

Hey everyone, Caleb here, I solo-developed Notality and hope it can benefit some of you! As far as I know, Notality is the only app that lets you transcribe your voice directly from your Apple Watch to Notion. If you are scatterbrained like I am, you have random ideas and thoughts that you want to remember at the most inconvenient times like while driving or running. Notality lets you get these thoughts down in writing in Notion without having to go back and listen to recordings or transfer text between apps. All it takes is asking Siri to "Transcribe with Notality". Notality will be opened and you can start talking. Just tap anywhere on your watch face and your recording will be transcribed and stored in your Notion database! Since I am the only one working on this project your feedback is critical to me. Thank you! Caleb

Wow, what a fantastic idea! I'm curious to know, did you use Siri for speech recognition, or did you transcribe audio on a server? Also, I was wondering did you save any user data?
Caleb Bolton
@daniela_muntyan great questions! I originally tried to use Siri/Apple's native frameworks to power the speech recognition of the app but 1. Apple's speech recognition framework isn't available on Apple Watch and 2. the transcription quality of Apple's speech framework is much worse than the alternatives. I ended up using Google's STT API but there are even better alternatives out there that I may switch later. The only user data saved on Notality servers are Notion user IDs and the IDs of the Notion databases used to store transcriptions. All text you see transcribed is only stored locally on your device or in Notion.

Speakflow seems like a public speaker's ally. Any plans for mobile apps for on-the-go practice?

Useful! However, my Siri doesn't work too great for me. It takes an average of 5 seconds since I say "Hey Siri" until I can say what I want. How could Siri performance affect your platform? PS: congrats to the team!
Caleb Bolton
@alvarovillalb_ that's a good point, Siri can be unreliable depending on device and network connection. Notality has full functionality without Siri - using Siri is just a convenient entry point to the app. You can still open the app via the homescreens of your Apple Watch or iPhone or even through custom shortcuts.
