This is a brand new sequencer tool right in your browser. It enables anyone to create and share beats using popular samples on Splice. This is really fun to use for a layperson like me. I can't imagine what musicians will do with this!
Nice. The Science Museum of Virginia has a giant IRL version of this with real instruments you can program with levers. Very addictive and awesome. ππ»
Hello Product Hunt,
We're really excited to bring you the first iteration of our Beat Maker, we're going to be adding a lot more to this quickly and fully integrating it into the Splice Sounds experience.
If you don't know much about Splice Sounds it's a subscription service with nearly 1,000,000 royalty free samples loops and presets. You can browse and audition all off the sounds from your browser, and select the ones you wish to download and use. Also don't forget to check out Splice Studio which offers version control for musicians and our Community where you can share daw sessions, stems and opportunities.
I'm here to take any questions or feedback about the Beat Maker or Splice in general.
Oh and of course, here's a beat! https://splice.com/sounds/beatma...

First it's fun! People of all skill levels can enjoy this and that's especially cool for the music fan who's always wanted to jump into production. Education is a massive challenge in making music, we're exploring how samples and loops can onboard people into their musical journey. We've got a lot more to do to address the education challenge, but it's a big long term goal.
Second, it's a way for us to explore new ways of allowing musicians to use the massive Splice Sounds sample library. The next phase is to integrate it into the sample discovery process letting you test sounds out together and build beats from anywhere not just your studio computer.
@michaelcunner thanks, keeping the experience simple for new user yet powerful enough for more experienced musicians to enjoy is really difficult, especially as we add more features.
