Hello everyone! I am a Spontime founder from Poland, recently moved to Los Angeles to launch our app! I would like to share a new way to meet new people efficiently using Spontime. We just released our v2 after adding a ton of new features and updates. Spontime Idea: The idea of Spontime came out of my frustration while I was travelling around Europe. It was very difficult for me to meet people at a new place quickly - I tried a many different apps, but I needed something simpler and more efficient. I tried dating apps such as Tinder and Bumble, fighting through pickup lines, endless chats and robotic swipes. Frustrated by spending so much time on the app, and no success of actually meeting in real life, I googled the conversion rate from match-to-meeting on apps such as Tinder. I was shocked seeing the average conversion equaling 0.8%! There is less than 1% of chance you are going to meet your match! But aren't we using these apps to actually meet? After realizing dating apps were not going to work out, I tried using Meetup but found it way too formal - these were more like networking events, not really places to make friends, specifically. It was then that I knew I wanted to build something that really connects us on a human level, with no complicated features or privacy concerns. I decided to work at a smaller scale, hand-in-hand with my friends and communities to make sure our features reflected how people wanted to meet and interact in real life. How does Spontime work: 1. Select or type your“Spontags” - e.g. ^coffee ^jogging ^lunch, which are just a way to list what you are up to today and what you want to meet people for - similat to #hashtags. 2. You are then introduced to people nearby who want to do similar activities - you swipe right if you want to join, left otherwise, which we are all familiar with ;) 3. If you both want to meet each other today - you match for today's activity! 4. Now here’s the best thing about Spontime: we really want you to make new friends in real life. So, you’ll only have 3 hours to start a chat and set the details to meet THAT DAY. The idea was to speed up the process of match-to-meeting, and make it as quick and efficient as possible to meet new people in real life. Again - no need for never ending chatting, waiting for an invitation, or scheduling.
