Before Stardust, I grew a social media app to 10 million users & had a burnout along the way.
As a recovering founder, I went down the health-tracking & biohacking rabbit hole. What I realized after spending thousands of dollars on doctors visits & health-tracking devices is that we need simpler ways to live a healthier life without overthinking things.
2 things stuck with me:
Sleep better, by manage your caffeine intake & get outdoors and adventure as much as you can.
Managing caffeine? If only I knew how to do that. I used to have 5 cups of coffee a day and wonder why I didn’t get a good night’s sleep.
That’s when I started chatting to baristas about how much caffeine is in a cup of coffee. To my surprise, nobody could tell me. I did some more research and discovered that the FDA recommends a maximum of 400mg of caffeine per day as a ‘safe’ dose for most adults. But how much is 400mg? Well, turns out one cup of filter (drip) coffee at a big coffee chain can have as much as 450mg (!) of caffeine. And what is ‘safe’ anyway?
I wanted to get an energy boost from a delicious cup of coffee, while still getting good quality sleep every night.
I couldn’t find a good solution on the market.
David, a friend of mine asked: Hey Pete, why don't you create your own coffee, then you know exactly how much caffeine is in one serving
So David and I created our own coffee. A coffee with a predictable, low amount of caffeine per serving (60mg). A coffee that tastes great and is easy to make.
We are sourcing the coffee from Ethiopia, brew it and then freeze dry it so that we get a predictable amount of caffeine per serving & a delicious tasting cup of coffee.
