Hey all π
My name's Dan and I'm a podcast addict. Podcasts are my go to medium for learning about building startups and products. I reckon I'd have to be in the top .01% when it comes to hours listened to! π
You get to hear from people who are experts in specific topics, who have worked in your industry or who have had relevant experiences that you can learn from.
The conversational form of podcasts I also find more conducive to learning. People discuss things in a way I find easier to understand, as if hearing from a mate.
I decided to aggregate all of my favourite podcast feeds that are helpful for everything from hacking on a project to scaling a startup. There's podcasts about marketing, coding, indiehacking and more.
I've then layered on instant search + a bit of AI (thanks to my startup, https://relevance.ai/discovery) to aid the discovery process. You'll find it works a lot better than searching with your native podcast app π
Note that right now it doesn't search audio, it just searches the titles and descriptions (with a bit of AI semantics). This could change!
Thanks for checking it out π
Cheers,
Dan
@userlastname I am not a podcast person (yet?) because I don't know when to listen to them in my day. Do you have any tips to get started with it?
At least I believe this app will help me get started with the good ones :)
Congrats on your launch ?makers
@benjamin_grandfond2 Hi mate! I listen to podcasts in a few scenarios:
- During my daily walks, i.e. getting my coffee/lunch or just stretching the legs
- Commuting to the office
- While I'm doing chores around the house, like cooking/cleaning
- If I'm playing video games, I always mute the soundtrack and listen to podcasts instead
- If I'm doing work that's very procedural and doesn't require much thinking
I find that among the other benefits, it also really helps motivate me during my day - especially podcasts like the ones I've listed here that follow people growing their own startups: https://www.startcasts.com/blog/... So I always look to find the time to fit them in, because I genuinely believe they help me be more productive!
@benjamin_grandfond2 No worries mate!! Let me know if you find a podcast that works for you :) There are plenty of shorter episode podcasts too, like: https://www.startcasts.com/episo...
Maybe I should build a "Short" vs. "Long" listen filter π
@anna_raskin As in why did I build it? I definitely started it to dog food my startup's search API, and it does help for SEO purposes there - no hiding that! But for me this is now a tool I use almost daily to find podcast episodes :)
@nikkishum Yeah, I curated a list of my favourite podcasts + some others that I know are good from occassional listening, and am aggregating from their RSS feeds :)
Very interesting and so helpful idea! Bravo! ^_^ It's great having such an engine that will help and boost communication, connection, and moreover - a learning process and sharing of knowledge and experience!
