Steeped AI — The AI-driven "so what" for survey research
Hello! I’m the COO at Steeped AI. My journey to this role began while working at a non-profit, where I conducted a research project on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2-Spirit People in Canada. Despite knowing this was an underserved population, I was shocked by the lack of comprehensive data - the most thorough source being a publicly maintained Google Sheet where families documented cases themselves. This experience reinforced the urgent need for better data accessibility and analysis.
Shortly after, I started working with Nathan to develop Steeped AI, built initially to analyze survey data on gender-based violence. In its Alpha, Steeped AI transforms survey data into auto-generated crosstabs, statistical tests, and AI-powered rankings - prioritized by our Eureka Score to surface the most meaningful insights - helping to break down barriers to rigorous data analytics.
This looks like a huge time-saver. Automating crosstabs and ranking insights with AI is such a smart approach. Congrats on the launch! 🎉
As an insights leader who is not a data scientist, I would use this every day. As a partner to product developers, managers, and marketers who need more insights than I can produce and need to leverage existing data more often to answer questions fast before engaging an entire new time-consuming study, I can name hundreds of people who would also use this daily.
I'm the Founder of Steeped AI and boy, has it been a grind for the last year and a half. I saw the demand for fast survey insights while working at Google as a Research Automation Lead. In that role, I created an official system for search insights used by the Google CEO + CBO. After leaving Google, I used those skills to build a scaled survey insights platform for researchers: Steeped AI.
Along with my COO (a former university researcher), we decided to tackle 3 time consuming problems we saw in survey analysis:
Survey outputs are complex and often masked with codes
Crosstab pivot tables can be overwhelming
Identifying statistically significant comparisons can be difficult and murky
And to solve these problems, Steeped AI:
Converts raw survey data into thousands of digestible, word-based "findings" with metrics
Calculates all crosstab combinations and presents findings that are ranked by AI
Performs stat tests for every comparison across a three-part process to minimize error due to chance
This is simultaneously the hardest thing I've ever done and the proudest I've ever been. There's some serious back end analysis firepower in this thing. We can’t wait to delight our first clients!
