@guygal - completely agree. The social web with built on anonymity (forums, chatroom etc.) and we're all anonymous in real life - when we're walking down the street! Exception: celebrities.

Just chatted a bit more about anonymity (specifically Wut, Rumr, and Secret) with @joshm and @byosko for the fourth episode of PHR (publishing Tuesday).

A lot of people have this impression that anonymity is some new internet phenomenon, but pre-facebook, the whole damn web was anonymous, and after, 4chan and reddit are still anonymous. I often say that facebook localized and commercialized the internet, and that's the phenomenon. The trend today is probably more accurately expressed as the commercialization of anonymity. Listened to PH3 yesterday, glad to see you're keeping them going at a steady pace.
