SubList — Email newsletters for blogs

Alex shared this with me a few days ago. Very slick implementation and cool name. Building an email list is incredibly important for any serious blogger. You might write a post that hits the front page of HN, receiving 20k visitors but they're very unlikely to ever come back unless you can re-engage them via email or something else. @mijustin, @adii, and @nathanbarry will back me up on this. :) @maccaw - you recently launched Sourcing.io (http://www.producthunt.co/posts/690). How are you splitting your time between all your projects? What's your goal with SubHub?

@maccaw - I know there's demand just for the simple, slider prompt to collect email addresses. In fact, as I mentioned over DM, I prefer to manually send a more personal email to my subscribers once a week. Do you have plans to integrate SubHub with Mailchimp or other services?

Thanks! Absolutely - we've found email marketing incredibly important. SubHub was a side-project I've been working on for some time, and I'm using it myself for some blogs (like Sourcing.io's - http://blog.sourcing.io). As you say, finding enough time to do everything can be a struggle, and while my focus is on Sourcing.io, I thought SubHub too useful not to release.

@DanDotLewis - not yet, but we will if there's call for it. How exactly do you need integration? Is there an existing email list you'd like to import?

Excited to release SubHub! We make it really simple to add an email newsletter to your blog. Whenever you publish a post, we'll make sure it gets emailed to everyone. Integration is simple with one line of JavaScript or, if you want to customize the experience completely, you can use our REST API. * REST & JavaScript API * RSS & Atom support * Export emails anytime * Mobile optimized emails

Definitely could add integration if there's enough call for it, or perhaps just have a way of sending a one-off custom message to subscribers. However, I think SubHub's main use is in automatically sending blog posts, and this will always be the focus. Mailchimp is more useful for non-blog related newsletters.

@maccaw Almost exactly what I've been looking for, except my blog is on Tumblr, and I use it as a cabinet of curiosities (reblogging things I like) as well as where I post original thoughts. Would love to be able to specify exactly which posts my subscribers receive.

@maccaw is this intentional? http://cactusformac.com. Or is that one of their themes?

@maccaw Do you guys have a Mailchimp integration? I'd love to add this to Now I Know's archives.
