Hi folks, I'm excited to share with you all the music collaboration app SuperConductor. It is a web application designed to make playing music with people over the internet easy and fun. Jump into a virtual music room with up to 5 other people and play along to any MIDI song with your keyboard or a MIDI instrument! As we have learned throughout the pandemic, it is very tricky to synchronize audio in real-time over the internet, especially for the purpose of performing music. As a musician, I sought to address this issue and created SuperConductor. It makes real-time music collaboration smooth by using MIDI and carefully manipulating the timing of events to minimize the perception of delay caused by network latency. Early experiments showed that this approach can be very effective, but a common timing system is still required for most use cases. This is also provided by SuperConductor through its synchronized playback, metronome, and visual cues. Many other features are available at various stages of completion. Impressively smooth and responsive, given that it's a full-blown music creation and collaboration suite running entirely as a web-app. Casual play and synth modes are a lot of fun. Nice work man.
