Hard sell to ask me to replace the core Slack experience with a new app, but it's also a really great value prop if done well! Really amazing to see Slack so ubiquitous so fast that it's getting full CLIENTS built on top of it like email.
@yanavlatchkova I hear you, but if you've built a slack client, unless I'm mistaken, when I'm using "Slack" I'm actually using the "Swipes" app instead right? That's replacing the Slack experience with yours - you're just using Slacks APIs so if I ever want to use the Slack app instead I can, but that's still aiming to replace Slack's client with yours. I'm not criticizing that strategy - it's bold - but just saying it's going to be an uphill battle!
Looks great. I haven't gotten into the habit of using it, but I know it's a beautiful app. This is an interesting take on chat/tasks — Flow Chat launched just a few days ago (http://www.producthunt.com/tech/...) as an alternative to Slack, and Wunderlist just created an integration with commands inside Slack for new tasks (http://www.producthunt.com/tech/...). This space sure is heating up! 🔥
This is a crazy risky move. I say bravo. It's great for positioning for a buy out, but not good for growth or scaling. You'll constantly have to keep up with Slack and make sure your client doesn't outdate theirs.
slackbot and s.o.f.i. sitting in a tree...
looking forward to testing the tool, but I'm really glad to see hard work pay off in the form of a great-looking website and really clever messaging :)
Good luck, team swipes!
@pbuckendorf thanks a lot for your reply. We will focus much more on the task features for sure - just checkout our normal Swipes product and you'll get a feeling what to expect.
Ever since we started developing Swipes back in 2013, we all had the intuitive feeling that one day we want to - and we will - build a team productivity tool. One that is for teams that stay away from unnecessary procedures that hide people’s accomplishments in a pile of documents.
And today we launch exactly that. Swipes for Teams is a Slack client that integrates chat and tasks that makes working together as easy as talking to each other. It’s based on the knowledge and experience we’ve gained from two and a half years of developing Swipes for personal productivity, one of the top tools in the productivity space. We know how to make each of team members perform - and we’re bringing that insight to the whole team.
Because we understand that people don’t want to adopt yet another software and have to constantly switch between 10 tools per day, we built Swipes for Teams on top of a platform that is already working for 200 000 companies - Slack. We all love Slack! And we’re pioneering the way of extending and delivering work tools on the basis of its successful communication experience.
It’s stunningly easy to adopt - just log in with your Slack account and assign a task to a teammate. We’ll make sure he gets it in his Slack.
I’d love to hear how Swipes for Teams is working for you!
Looking forward to giving this a try! Right now we use Trello/Slack integration and this seems quite similar... but obviously full integrated - no switching back and forth.
I love this, but it takes me out of Slack :( I have to have Slack open (I'm on multiple teams) and Swipes open, which causes me to only go to Swipes when I want to set a task or check a task. Also, I'd like to be able to see completed tasks--am I overlooking that somewhere? Love the idea! Seems potentially exactly what I need, at least :) Awesome job!
Also 'edit' dialogue for messages is weird this time. Why not just press Up Arrow like in slack or Skype? Product positioning is another pain point for me. Really hard to make your mind around personal/fro teams/etc. No one point of entry to customers..
This is exactly what I was looking for - an ability to manage tasks inside slack, but not with commands, but in a side panel. Questions. Mac design doesn't look like the one on the website http://swipesapp.com/slack/. A lot of slack functions are cut off (text commands like /remind, etc), bots are not working. I've installed swipes for teams and I post as 'Swipes' now. How is that? All of this makes it a hard sell. If you could just add team tasks as a side panel.....
