@basharath hi – thank you! It connects people based on their current location and we include a smaller city-based radius. We are targeting users in large urban areas and we encourage people to meet up in real time so we limit the distance that users can be visible within their feed. For example, in NYC (currently the only city we are launched in), users can only see other users that are a maximum 15 miles away.

I’m the Founder and CEO of Swivel, a dating app aimed to bridge the gap between online dating and meeting organically. I created Swivel because most young singles feel stuck between two undesirable choices: meeting online or meeting organically IRL.
Raise your hand if you have been ghosted? 85% of you should have your hand up. What about being catfished or having your expectations crushed? That should cover everyone. There are so many frustrations on current apps, but why are these even occurring? Well, because we have completely gamified dating apps – almost 50% of people use dating apps “for fun” (scary, right?).
Now, let’s discuss the alternative – meeting organically in person. With pre-arranged meetings and security behind a screen becoming the norm, the vulnerability and awkwardness of approaching someone organically is more daunting than ever.

We use the familiarity of dating apps as a launch pad to meet up in real life, easing the anxiety of approaching someone in person, but skipping the frustration that comes with using a dating app. We celebrate authenticity, embrace spontaneity, and most importantly, encourage people to meet off the app and IRL.
