Cool service if you ask me, if you want to get surprised or don't like the work of planning, booking, and doing that 10 more times. Built by friends here in Amsterdam. If you book now if someone books a weekend away with them, they'll give a $/£/€25 cash back (ask @junaid for details) for product hunters!

I heard about this from a friend because I wanted to be able to enter my budget and other constraints somewhere, and then let a computer generate all sorts of options for the weekend. These guys are doing exactly that!

Pros:

Fun, easy interface - cool idea!

Cons:

it's brand new, so offers are limited

Happy to hear the app is serving you well Scott. Thank you for the support :)

Hi everyone! My name is Junaid and I am one of the co-founders of TakeMeAway. A little about what we're trying to solve - we think planning a weekend getaway can be frustrating. It’s especially annoying going through the whole booking process only to find out the price is much higher than expected. So you either book the more expensive trip or have to rethink your entire plan. TakeMeAway gives you inspiration for your next getaway. And the best part? It’s all within your budget. How does it work? We use an adaptive algorithm to combine flight (Skyscanner) and hotel availability (booking.com) results based on the combination of individual component prices and user-based filter settings to ensure the user has as many options presented based on their individual budget. The results are further tailored based on up-to-the-minute pricing information for flights and hotels from our partners. We hope that gives a nice introduction to us! Please fire away any questions or queries you may have :)

I don't tend to install one-off apps anymore, and I'm biased towards web, but I think this would function better as a web app. I do little of my holiday searching on mobile.

The app itself is okay, but buggy. In just 10 minutes of use, I had several instances of infinite loading, had to close and reopen the app because it stopped working, and just a black screen on 'saved items' (iPhone 7 11.2.6).

I'm sure these sorts of niggles will be addressed as the app matures, and the concept itself is very cool. However, I couldn't really recommend it in its current state.

Pros:

Cool idea, solves a pain point planning short breaks

Cons:

Buggy app, shame there's no web version (yet)

Hi Harry, thank you for downloading and using the app! Your feedback is much appreciated. The Apple version seems to be more lagging compared to the Android version and we are looking into improving that. Interesting comment on having a web version - we felt an app was the best way to incorporate the card and inspiration system. I'm not quite sure how we'd implement that on web. We do recognise a lot of people tend to book on laptops using web and we added the 'send me the details' function to cover this. Thanks again for taking the time to write your thoughts.
