One workspace for your team's docs, sprints and tasks, synced to Github, or Gitlab. Tara AI is the simplest product development tool, designed for teams moving rapidly. Free for developers and teams.
Hey PH fam š
I'm Iba, co-founder of Tara AI.
6 months ago, we revealed our first version in beta, with support from the community. Today, we're excited to unveil Tara AI for teams, hunted by @katmanalac.
Tara AI is the simplest Jira alternative, designed for developers and teams moving rapidly.
āļø Fast - with minimal setup: This means built-in views once your Git is synced and 1-click sprints. Running agile should be simple.
šØ Designed for development teams: The focus of the platform is to help teams ship early and often, with docs, tasks & sprints synced to pull requests & commits.
After listening intently to 4,000 teams in our 1.0 beta, here's what's new:
- Teams - run parallel sprints in one workspace across pods or teams.
- Gitlab sync - you can now sync tasks to Gitlab merge requests with a webhook.
- Slack app - receive notifications on what's important.
- Github app - 2 clicks to sync and view stale PRs blocking your sprint.
- Github task sync - connect a branch and view related commits and PRs automatically.
- Revamped home with sprint stats - plus see assigned PRs that need attention
- Docs (requirements) re-design - easy formatting, in-line images and tasks in one view.
- Task effort - toggle between days, hours or points.
- Task commenting - communicate with your team.
- Multiple workspaces - split clients or your org between multiple workspaces.
- Import - import issues from Github, or tasks from Asana and Trello.
And, Tara AI is free for teams and developers. We created Tara to power a paradigm shift in project management, and so our free forever plan has no limits on users, tasks or workspaces.
Looking forward, we're working on functionality for teams that provides visibility and predictability in product development. Features may include automation around sprints, access controls and development analytics. This will be part of our premium plan, and is where the AI comes into play.
A huge thank you to our beta users and teams - it's been incredible to see their work and the products they've built using Tara in their respective fields of emerging tech, healthcare, education and disruptive R&D. We've been humbled by your efforts and spirit of innovation; it's the fuel for our sprints. Thank you!
With gratitude,
Iba, Syed and the Tara team
@katmanalac@ibamasood I love the UI! Are you planning to focus solely on project management, or do you have any plans to incorporate product management, either through integrations such as ProductBoard, or directly in your product? I've used Trello, Jira, and now Clubhouse, and I've always missed having the context of which customer asked for what feature, being able to score them, and seeing *why* we're building a feature instead of just *what* the feature is.
@petrbela We are thinking about how to add user feedback context into the task directly (things like # of requests for the feature, name of customer, etc). Would you expect a different view for this- or would baking it into the task modal itself be intuitive enough?
RN - we've added git data into the task modal as well- so a feedback module would work similarly.
P.S. The plan is to start around task management/PM and work our way to engineering analytics and release plans. Adding modules through integrations or a webhook would be the next way to go. We're heavily investing in our infrastructure in Nov and Dec, with Gitlab as our first webhook integration. Expect more on this front as we tie to other parts of the dev toolchain!
We've been transitioning from Jira to Tara and are super excited to have our whole team on Tara within the next two sprints. The Gitlab integration is a big bonus for our team. Thanks Tara team!
@brad_hughes Thanks for the support and vote of confidence, Brad. We're here listening so please let us know how the Gitlab integration goes for you and how we can be helpful!
As a designer for a tech start-up in the UAE, things can get chaotic. But thanks to Tara Ai, our team was able to keep things on track. It takes a bit of time to getting used to but once you get the hang of it, it makes your work-flow so much easier. Absolutely great product!
@misellany We also use Notion and we chose Tara to replace our Notion task board, primarily because of the Github integration which let us easily see how tasks translate to business value for customers and get a clearer idea of where a project is.
@misellany@sugarsteroni We've kept Tara laser focused on one area: helping dev teams ship early and often. This means all views are centered around the git sync, alongside daily standup and sprint insights. We're also hearing from the 100 or so teams using Tara, alongside Notion, that the focus on sprints and how they tie to Git commits, has been valuable.
P.S. Robin- thanks for chiming in!
We've been day zero users of the product and have love the cadence of features being shipped. We moved from using notion and a short stint on Jira Cloud to Tara. Alot of the value to our team had been a quick way to get started on sprints. I worked with a mix of junior and mid level engineers who didn't want the complexity of Jira or the mess of Notion. We're really looking forward to all the new features coming soon and hope that we get Bitbucket soon too.
@ahmad_ak Hey Ahmad! Thanks for your patience and support with our very early alpha :)
Just noted your request for bitbucket, and appreciate the feedback. Pls keep it coming!
@ahmad_ak Thank you so much for your support, Ahmad! It means a lot to see a day zero voice! As Iba mentioned, we're taking note of the bitbucket request.
Tara is what project collaboration should look like; I am pumped for where this product is going! Congrats on all the great new features and integrations!
I have been using Tara for the past 6 months for all of our engineering efforts. It is a simple and no-bullshit gimmicky features product. We had tried Jira before but as a small team, we felt it was too complicated when we want to focus on execution and quick sprints to turn things around. Goodluck to the founders and excited for the slack integration. We have been waiting for it for quite a while now.
@fatimarizwan Thank you so much for the feedback. It makes my day to hear that we're making it possible for people to focus on what matters. Thank you again and keep us posted on how we can help and what else you'd like to see!
We've been using Tara for a couple of months now. We value the Github integration which let allows to easily see how tasks translate to business value for customers and get a clearer idea of where a project is.
@sugarsteroni Thank you, Robin! It's great to hear that Tara is working for you. Please know that we're listening. If anything comes up or you think of something that would really help you, just ping us in the app and we'll be there pronto!
Big congrats to the team on shipping out these new features. We've loved using the product since its early access days and we're really stoked to see all up and coming features. Switching over from Jira cloud has been the best investment so far, oh and also moving away from Confluence and Notion.
My only product request for the text editor would be better markdown support for coding languages where it can color format our pasted snippets.
@danielhudson8 Thank you so much for the kind words and support! Regarding the text editor supporting coding languages - that's a great idea! Something we'll look into for sure.
Been using Tara for a couple of months now. After years of struggle with Notion and Jira, Tara seems to work the best.
We're still integrating all the fun new features (woo slack app!), but github/gitlab integration has been great!
@pj_mukh Thank you so much for your support and feedback. We love that Tara is helping you and your team and we can't wait to share some of the stuff we have in the works!
Been closely following the progress of this throughout the beta, can't wait to try out all the new features on my next project! Congrats to the team for the release š
@jorgemia@ibamasood šš would also be cool to be able to create templates for the Requirements description (Eg. a list of headings) which gets loaded up when creating a new Requirement...so that the team remembers to fill everything out!
@ivan_reshetov I'm glad to hear that, Ivan! Let us know how it turns out and what some of the next features are that you'd like to see inside of the slack integration!
@nafiha_nasar Thank you so much, Nafiha! I'm glad to hear that you're connecting with how Tara works. Thank you for your support and let us know what else you'd like to see on the platform!
@ivan_zenkovich Thanks, Ivan. Tara was born out a of a belief that a piece of software doesn't have to be complicated to deal with complexity. Hop in and let us know what you think!
Congrats guys! Usability and simple flows are much sought after! I've had some trouble using your competitor's app for overview purposes or a simple kanban view that works and entices people. Good luck!
@bogdan_ionita Thank you so much! Indeed, we are very deliberate about keeping our app as simple and intuitive as possible, and we'd love to hear your feedback to see where we can improve!
