In January, we at FSU began investigating ways to incorporate first-generation students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds into tech entrepreneurship. We determined that high-quality internships with startup supporting organizations are a fantastic way to equip these students with entrepreneurial skills to change their lives and empower participants to teach other students best practices in tech entrepreneurship. FSU has committed significant resources to this program, including hiring participants for the entire school year after the internship so students can expand the program and teach other first-generation students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds best practices in tech entrepreneurship. I am so thankful that Techstars has agreed to offer internship slots at its Berlin, Chicago, and Detroit accelerators. We are looking to expand this program to other tech partners and to complete fundraising for this first cohort. 100% of each donation goes directly to students.
