The Tech Ladies job board was re-designed from the ground up with a focus on diversity + inclusion. Candidates can easily find jobs that are "WFH-Friendly", "Early Stage," or have "Unicorn Potential," and companies can hire from our community of 50,000 women who work in engineering, product, design, and more!

Nice refresh, @allisonveronica and team! Love the "unicorn potential" tag. πŸ˜‚ How do you determine which companies/job opportunities get that tag? I imagine they all want it.
Allison Esposito Medina
@rrhoover Hi Ryan! For "Unicorn Potential" we look for companies that have a really ambitious mission, great traction and/or are working in exciting emerging tech. :)

@allisonveronica i have a question - can i post a job for interns? want to support young talents
orliesaurus
Hey makers, what made you want to build a job board exclusively for women by women?
Allison Esposito Medina
@orliesaurus Hey! Contrary to the name "Tech Ladies" we're not exclusively by or for women although about 90% of our members identify as women and others have different gender identities. But overall, we created the community first as a space for women and nonbinary folks to connect and discuss issues and then expanded to include our job board.

Love this!
Jannis
Why do I have to sign up to see the Jobs?
Allison Esposito Medina
@_jayfk We're a member-based community. If you're interested in posting, drop us a line at help@hiretechladies.com and we'll send along some credentials for you to view it!
Allison Esposito Medina
@_jayfk @hiretechladies Or even if you just wanna see the board, we're happy to send it along ;)
Jannis
@hiretechladies @allisonveronica Could you lay out why you decided to make this a member based project? I'd assume that an open board would drive more people to actually see the job listings on the site. No obligations, just curious.
Allison Esposito Medina
@hiretechladies @_jayfk Sure! We started as a closed community for women and nonbinary people in tech and having the membership closed has enabled us to scale our growth in a smart and careful way, and to laser focus on the needs of our community. It's basically quality over quantity :)
Jannis
@hiretechladies @allisonveronica Great reply! Thanks for working on this. Just submitted an invitation request!
Nisha Garigarn
Congrats Allison! The design looks simple and I can't wait to see the gifs :) Will browsing the job board be free for job-seeking tech ladies?
Allison Esposito Medina
@nishsticks Hi Nisha! So glad you like it. Yes the job board will always be 100% free for members of our community to browse/apply! People can join the community at www.hiretechladies.com/join

Is there something like this but for men?
Allison Esposito Medina
@alexwinkyface AngelList!
Allison Esposito Medina
@alexwinkyface wait are you the one that gave us a sadface and brought our rating from 5 to 3.9? If so, how can we...turn your frown upside down? :)
Alex G
@allisonveronica nope, wasn't me! I would never put a bad rating on any product. I know how hard it is to build and launch something. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you out...
Allison Esposito Medina
@alexwinkyface Thank you, totally agree!
Nicole Henry
This sounds so awesome! Will there be anything for entry level or self taught and really resourceful? Maybe even apprenticeships?
Allison Esposito Medina
@nicole_henry Thank you for your kind words! Most of the companies that post prioritize their FT roles but we do have a section for Internships and have had Tech Ladies find internships on the board before.
Nicole Henry
@allisonveronica thank you for the response. I will definitely be adding this job board to my daily job search rounds.

Such an exciting day! Have been following Tech Ladies for quite some time now and so impressed by the work that they're doing. This launch is just another testament to the awesome impact they are having on the industry. Congrats, Allison and team! πŸ¦„πŸš€πŸ™Œ

Looks great! Signed up and then hit with 1-2 weeks wait, ouch! I read that it's due to reviewing each person individually which is great quality control, but have you considered giving members some sort of limited access to browse jobs and get in and set up their profiles rather than being completely locked out? I get the wait for employers, but seems less of a risk for members to sign up. With this 1-2 wait you're potentially losing out on users who really want to engage with your product. Not simply asking for myself who would love to get in – but stepping back to think about the context around finding a job which is something people typically like to move quickly on. And especially top talent who might even find their job within this time frame. That all said, I love the concept and can't wait to start using the product. Congrats on your launch! πŸŽ‰
Allison Esposito Medina
@allisongrayce Thank you! The reality is more like 1-2 days but sometimes we get backed up because we do review each by hand so that timeframe just gives us some breathing room when we have large #s joining. We are community-focused so quality over quantity is important to us! Everyone has been approved now so you should receive your email soon-- if for any reason you don't check your SPAM!

I'm not even a job searching lady and I LOVE this job board. I keep up with the postings so that I can share them with my network of friends who are searching. Love that there are plenty of remote positions listed and this job board is the first place I recommend when people ask where they should post their new job opportunities to get diverse candidates. Well done!

Pros:

clean design, easy to search, diverse job opportunities

Cons:

not enough people know about it!

Allison Esposito Medina
Thank you, Val!

Really cool product, and good job on the launch! I do have a question about your description though. It says your board focuses on diversity + inclusion, but isn't that the opposite since your strictly limiting it to women only?
Allison Esposito Medina
@georgewillaman Hey George. Thanks for the question, it's cool to see a 15-year-old dev on here! Why Do We Need This? Women are drastically underrepresented in the tech field, and for the hundreds of thousands of us out here who are in tech, we focus on specific things about company culture when making a decision where to work. Some of these things: how family-friendly a place is, how focused on diversity and inclusion a place may be (so they will accept us), etc. A really good book about the topic of how the tech industry became so biased against women is called "Brotopia" by Emily Chang. I recommend it! Hopefully in the future we will have more parity and won't need this but we see that as being many many years off.

This is a great upgrade and much easier to apply for positions

Pros:

Easy to use

Cons:

There are no cons

Can you add the filter for the remote-friendly jobs?
Allison Esposito Medina
@zorica_l Hey there! Just select "Remote" under location, that will bring up all remote roles!

I'm a city organizer in Dallas for Tech Ladies. It's been a fantastic way for me to meet and grow my network here as I have gotten into the tech field. I'm forever grateful for this group of ladies!

Pros:

Diverse and inclusive

Cons:

Wish there were more events in each city!

This is a wonderful job board -- me and a lot of my girl friends are all into tech industry so this community will definitely help. @allisonveronica thanks for making this product. I wonder whether it also welcomes international students and/or passive job seekers? I luckily landed on a job at a tech firm and will join the firm after graduation, but will definitely like to meet more ladies in tech. (I didn't complete the member application due to the above concern) ps. I am interning at a tech start-up now and it was founded by a female entrepreneur. If you like Tech Ladies, you might also want to check out @jobalaya! :D

awesome stuff! This is something women in tech really need!
