Thanks for creating this bot! Moving away from WhatsApp has been hard because that's where I have all my groups with years of chat history. Definitely looking to try this out.

@aakash_n_s Parting with years of chat history is one the biggest inertias for moving away from Whatsapp. That is core issue we intend to solve.
Many are moving away because of restrictions on group sizes already and after the whatsapp policy fiasco last week this process has accelerated.

This is our first ever product here.
Over the past few months, many of the professional groups I am a part of(alumni groups, housing society) are moving to Telegram. Few of my friends asked me to build a bot to move the chats to telegram. So I got to work.
Telegram's bot framework is really easy to learn and implement. We built the whole thing over the weekend and posted it to a couple of subreddits. More than 300 people used the bot on day 1. Our post is the top post now on /r/telegrambots.
Right now the bot supports exporting group chats without media. If there is enough interest from people, we are planning to support importing media also.
Do let us know what you think about the product. As this is our first time here, I am sure we have lapses in the post, do give us feedback on any possible improvements.

@sankeerth Thanks a lot for trying the product out. Currently there are a lot of solutions which involve you installing some custom software on windows and using the telegram web to import the chats. We utilised the bot framework and worked around the messaging limits via bots to groups and achieved this.
A well-implemented bot. It was my first time using the bot and there was no confusion at all to use it. My alumni group was considering to shift to telegram but were tied back because we didn't want to loose all the chats. Now this makes it really easy to move to telegram groups.
Whatsapp groups aren't cutting it anymore because of the group size restriction. And telegram has a really solid bot framework which you can add to a group to do all sorts of amazing things. Strongly suggest that everyone check this out.

@tbay_cabinetry Thanks a lot. Even before the Whatsapp policy fiasco there was migration to telegram owing to restrictions on whatsapp group sizes, the recent news only accelerated the process.
All the professional groups I am part of moved to telegram permanently. Also with bots you can add a lot of functionality to groups in telegram. There will be many more people who will be moving to telegram sooner or later.
