Really just shutting down every argument for gas/combustion engines. Who needs a Ferrari now? (Unless you want the sound)

@bryceoflife people don't buy ferraris for the sound ;), its about enjoying the style and that brand - personally this tesla looks great, but i'd still take a ferrari over it any day of the week.

When I woke up this morning, I was expecting a semi truck. Turns out Tesla also unveiled the world's fastest car. Mind blown.
Shut da front door. The most impressive number here is the 10,000 Nm torque. To give you an idea, the $2M Bugatti Veyron has 1,500 Nm torque. This is all-kill.
The stats are no doubt amazing especially considering that even the most Hyper of Hypercars a la Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918, McLaren or any of the more race oriented versions of those cars that are selling for $3M+ (which you couldn't buy now even if you had the money) aren't able to do anywhere near the 0-60 or 0-100 or 1/4 Mile times or Top Speed that this Roadster does and this costs $250K. All that is great but the styling of the car is more surprising to me, that they were able to make something that looks pretty unique in a market where copycatting is common. But all that performance without the aural pleasure of reaching those crazy speeds in those crazy times is why even if I was to buy one of these I wouldn't prefer it over a Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Pretty amazing! Now let’s hope the Tesla team can keep up with demand and eventually lower the price.
Sounds really good on paper but the production is scheduled for 2020, so it’s unfair to compare it to the cars currently on the market. No other manufacturers announce cars so far ahead so it seems at least partly like a hype for Tesla investors. Acceleration is just one part of what makes a great sports car. And how is the acceleration past 100 mph? That’s the traditional weakness of electric cars and it matters more on the track. How about its weight, brakes, turning, steering feel, grip, suspension, weight distribution (it should be quite good), downforce? Will the battery last for a full track day? Of course sound has always been a very important part of what made sports cars exhilarating to drive and Tesla can’t compete there. And the design and brand matter too. Ferrari and Lamborghini don’t make $40k cars (or even $100k cars).
@leoharsha10 If that is your logic and sound your thing, you’ll be better buying an old Soviet Mig29 supersonic jet and sit on the middle runway while a competent pilot break the sound barrier at 50 m ground altitude over the tarmac and rises at 90° over your head... it surely beats any sport car engine's sound. but since you seem to value so much exclusivity, even if the prices are artificially hyper-inflated, you must love the customary Pentagon's projects budget run-overs, then better get an F15 Eagle, if you can get your hands on one, McDonnell Douglas doesn’t make $100m jets.
@_yannbertrand that’s actually a controlled speed limit. The real final speed remains undisclosed by Tesla. Some engineers are saying the final speed is close to 500km/h.
« Fastest production car ever made ». It hasn’t been made yet. There is a lot of concern and doubt and concern among the community. This car might never see the light of day.
