ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors 5.2 — E2E-encrypted storing, editing and co-editing of docs
1

ONLYOFFICE uses AES-256 to encrypt your files (and data while collaborating) and a private blockchain to transfer encrypted passwords privately.

ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors works as a client for encrypting documents locally on the client side.

Hello, ProductHunt! My name is Mikhail, I am from ONLYOFFICE, and we have just launched a developer preview of end-to-end encryption of documents. It allows securing your documents wherever you store them regardless of the server protection methods and collaborating on any sensitive data privately, making ONLYOFFICE the new thing for those who seek deeper security: from researchers and journalists to medical and legal institutions. We consider the chosen technology potentially the most reliable of encryption methods available today, because: - It uses automatically generated passwords for documents that are far stronger than custom passwords and cannot be cracked. - No password sharing is involved on the user side, they are transferred through the network in the encrypted form. - ONLYOFFICE doesn’t store any of this data, everything is done locally or through consensus mechanisms of the blockchain. - ONLYOFFICE encrypts everything about the documents: documents themselves, transferred data, temporary files. - Collaborative editing is also possible and done completely in the encrypted mode. The aim of this developer preview is to showcase the technology, as well as to get as much feedback as possible. We are preparing for the beta release, and this is the chance to be one the first to give our new solution a try. Enjoy and stay secure!
