Looking awesome I must say. Do you have a task list view? Say I am creating tons of tasks out of chat conversations, do I have a way to a see a task-focused view aggregating to-dos created across channels? That could make us switch from Slack

@ilan Thank you! Glad you like what you see, and would love to have you join up on Stride I don't have specific details I can share on how exactly we'll be wielding Actions + Decisions, but you can bet we'll be doing all sorts of cool things with them!

Congrats on the launch, Atlassian & the entire Stride team. I saw that an app marketplace was mentioned in a thread here. Should developers who are interested in building out a Stride integration be doing anything to prepare besides applying for an API token?

Congrats @cameronsavage and the team! Just in time for Summit as well (which I'm super excited for - my first ever Atlassian Summit)! Cannot wait to get my hands on this to test it out - am hoping for seemless integration with other Atlassian products (mainly Service Desk + StatusPage) 😻

I can't seem to find any screenshots that show off their thread / reply feature. Am I missing it somehow? It is supposed to be that "branch crooked arrow" button? This doesn't seem to solve the problem of everyone's first instinct of "post directly to chat to everyone for everything" and the endless barrage of noise and notifications.

@markjharvey We do not have threading, nor have we advertised it. Did you see somewhere that makes you think we have it? FWIW, we have tested threading, and it does not solve for the problems we set out to solve with Stride – it created additional noise. The act of fragmenting a single conversation into multiple threads didn't help the entire team get things done, it created more overhead to keep up with your team and more information off in silos.

@markjharvey I have seen Twist – and I'm not convinced it solves for the full breadth of the team communications problems we experience today. That said, I will be interested to see how Twist evolves. There's a sharp team behind that project!

@cameronsavage I'd love nothing more than Atlassian to make a great work chat platform. Your screenshots / videos show people posting directly to chat, alerting and notifying everyone without regard, which is the core problem of Slack, HipChat, etc. Please fix this 🙏🏼

@markjharvey We've put a lot of time and thought (and testing!) into giving you control over what is notifiable activity on a per-conversation basis. Chat is still one of the core communication channels, but we've baked a good default, and all the custom nobs you might need to dial it in. Additionally, we've created "Focus Mode" to quickly turn down all general activity so you can focus on a single task. I can't post a screenshot in PH responses, but if you look at the "Get work done with the freedom to focus" section under the "How it Works" tab on the Stride.com website you can see some visual aids for how you might customize your world. Or, for a TL;DR form, here's *how* it works: • Set an individual conversation's importance level for notifications – you, you+team, everything • Chose how notifications appear to you – sound? mobile? etc. • Set your presence if you need to be away • Engage Focus Mode if you just need some time to zero in on a task Very interested in your thoughts on that ^^, it's one of our core goals to solve for the problem you called out in your comment.

@cameronsavage That's good to know. Sorry for all the flack in here but I am extremely frustrated with Slack and all competitors in the work-chat space. It's incredibly noisy and distracting. Having a Focus Mode (DND or Snooze in Slack) just seems to create a backlog of notifications people will either NOT get to / ignore or spend time going through (unproductive time). Side note, one of the few good things I liked was "All Unreads" or a place to view everything at a glance and "mark all as read". This saved me tons of time. I still think the platform has a responsibility to change people's primary go-to habit of "post to chat to everyone". Perhaps start with breaking the habit of posting "thank you" and "OK" to chat to signify "I've read your message" (a hold over from email). Emoji reactions solve that but are not enforced enough IMO.

@cameronsavage we're heavy users of Trello (our project management tool) and Slack (our discussion / messaging tool) but we've always been disappointed with the lack of integration between the two (we've tried both Trello apps for Slack). Have you thought about how Trello could work with Stride, on a much deeper and more holistic basis? I can see some simple things like creating tasks in Trello from the Actions & Decisions feature, but I'm sure you guys will have better ideas..

Slack apps suck performance wise. expecting Atlassian to do a better job there.

Pros:

way cheaper than slack, slightly better features (to-dos , decisions)

Cons:

Yet another slack clone.

Atlassian design and product team deserves a big kudos. Stride logo is wow - It simply denotes the long step! The new feature "Decision" is something very new in chat platform will be very useful.. Awaiting to use it 😍. The Landing page is killer!

As a user who went from Hipchat to Slack to Hipchat and is now headed back to Slack, if Atlassian doesn't fix their availability issues for enterprise messaging, this will not touch Slack's market. Hipchat had multiple incidents where their status page stated they were "up/available" while status throughout social and their own emails said they were having widespread issues. Transparency would go along way.

Really liked HipChat but was not as easy to use as Slack. Can't wait to try out Stride, this is the best news I could have hoped for from HipChat improvements.
