@thatguybg, @nunu_thang, @dannibles and I came together during @beondeck's Hip-Hop Hackathon a few months ago. (Shoutout @brandon_taleisnik + @eriktorenberg for organizing)
The four of us all love music, and have experience making trap beats. But creating beats has a lot of friction, and if you don't have any experience, it can be really daunting and overwhelming!
It's 2020, so we decided to solve this problem by building THETRAPFACTORY:
Press a button, get a beat.
Don't like the beat we generated? Press a button to create another. Rinse, lather, repeat until you get ๐ฅ. Only pay for the beat if you like it! ๐ค
But there's one more thing...
Have a certain sound in mind? Want to have a bit more control? We have a second "mode" where you can upload your own sample, and our AI will create a beat *using* that sample.
Have fun ya'll - can't wait to hear your trap beats!
Also want to thank @callmevlad and Webflow - during our hackathon we created the first version using #nocode! Our current design is a riff off of one of the webflow templates ๐ฎ
What excites me most about The Trap Factory is that our generative model will be open sourced. This means that anyone can help define the genre of trap by contributing loops or improvements to the model via our GitHub repository.
Once we have a large dataset of trap instrumentation, we will be able to create a neural network-based model that is even more creative than our current one. If we pass in instrumentation from another genre (letโs say metal, for example) as input to our new model, we could create a trap-metal fusion instrumentation with just the click of a button.
If you love music and youโd like to help build or benefit from such a model, consider joining our Discord server: https://discordapp.com/invite/3X...
@nono_ruiz
1. We may or may not have plans for every type of factory ๐
2. Free and clear! Since the beats are generated by an AI and not a person, once you buy them, you own them completely and forever ๐
@dave_goldblatt thank you! it tastes so good.
3. so, when the beats are generated by an ai, if i buy one of them, can anyone else have that exact beat i generated by pressing the trap factory button?
for me it would be necessary that when i process the purchase of a beat i can have a copy of the usage terms and the license that the trap factory provides because i would use those beats to work with other musicians and singers.
thanks!
@nono_ruiz Interesting question!
It's impossible for others to get the beat that you got - we have randomization as part of our trap generation algorithm. There is a small possibility others may get a beat that is similar, but a 100% match isn't going to happen :D
We don't have any documentation that you can present to other artists or a license that states it is the case, but that's a great feature request! Also, once you purchase it, you fully own your beat! Since it's made by an AI, there is no person to share credit with ๐
For now, you can rest assured that our Trap Algorithm will produce an entirely unique beat for however you want to use it.
@dave_goldblatt thank you!
i'm more comfortable with what you said. although in order to use it commercially i'll wait to have the copy of the license. please let me know when you have it available at the end of the purchase of a beat at the trap factory!
i also thought that with what you have done in the trap factory you can have the biggest beats store in the beatstars marketplace. it's crazy!
i stay tuned
Hey everyone! High-level overview for the AI behind the Trap: we combine Monte Carlo methods with digital signal processing techniques, including tempo, key inference and state-of-the-art sample-based synthesis, to construct a simple yet surprisingly musical generative model for Trap. Enjoy!
