Hey everyone!
Here is our side-ish project that we think will help you to follow the news on the go. It's an app that I use everyday during its development period.
It's made just for checking the news on a simple interface, nothing more.
Please let us know which sources or features you want to see on this app.
Stay healthy and safe 🙌
@ahmetsulek I installed the app. The interface is simple and neat. I wish there was no limit to the number of stories or posts in each news source. Also, please consider adding Indie Hackers to the list of sources. I'm waiting for dark mode and other updates in the future. Good luck 👍
@adithvictor Hey Adith, thank you for your feedback. We will surely implement Dark Mode for the next version. Will add Indie Hackers to the source list too 🙌
@ahmetsulek Hey great work and nice design for the mobile app. I have used panda web app / chrome extension for awhile now. I assume you are partnered with panda (but this could be a false assumption). If so, it would be amazing to connect my already existing Panda account to the mobile app and automatically have all my sources from the web app available in mobile (use the same data from api?).
All the best and looking forward to future iterations!

Minimal, but works well! Big fan of the navigation. It’d be great to have support for the iOS system dark mode, and perhaps to tone down or remove the haptics (or at least have an option to) – most apps seem to save haptics for particularly important actions or gestures, whereas I don’t feel like tapping on an article is noteworthy enough to have haptic vibration every time.
FWIW VoiceOver screen reader accessibility support seems to be non-existent – it’s impossible to navigate the app, and it seems to read the entire screen in one go with no way to switch between articles (is this a non-native app by any chance? 😄)
@iamsebj Hey Seb, excellent feedback 🙌 Dark mode is coming soon :) Your suggestions about haptics are noted down. Will discuss it further with our designer.
Our app has been developed with React Native and we'll look for VoiceOver support for React Native before releasing the next version.
Again, thanks for your constructive feedback.
Nice app. Some feedback:
- The sponsored posts are too high up the list and too identical to the other posts in my opinion.
- Please add thumbnails
- Are you planning to have an integrated reader with some preloading?
- Would be great if we could login to the sources to have personalized content and even use common features such as comments, likes/upvotes, bookmark/save, etc.
Is this app affiliated with Panda? When I tap on the link to the 'old desktop version' of thenews I get a page from panda. If so, why have you chosen not to use that name, on the panda homepage it still says the android and Iphone app is 'coming soon'
Just visited the Desktop version of this app and found the reports to be up-to-date and in depth. It is refreshing to have a positive, upbeat report on the good things that are happening. Thank you for sharing.
This is very very well done. I've been taking a social media break for a little over a month, and this gives me my fix without diving into the black holes of individual apps.
Awesome side-ish project @ahmetsulek!
Great job! As a designer myself this looks really interesting, just downloaded the app to take a proper look. Gave your landing page a quick UX review too, hopefully you find it helpful! https://app.usebubbles.com/tN5sP...
@michael_andreuzza Hello Michael, I wish that you have checked our Mobile App before comparing to a Chrome Extension :) Both apps are free and without limit. Looking forward to hear more of your feedback after you give it a try 🙂
@michael_andreuzza The main difference is TheNews is mobile so you don't need Chrome Browser running on a Desktop Operating System to browse the news 🙏
Hey @ahmetsulek, very simple yet useful app! I'd like to see an option to see tech/design news from different sources in one page with "sort by most viewed" option. Good luck!
