Track local time of people across time zones not abbreviation of time zones. Enter city, type a name and optionally attach a photo or type their X (Twitter) username. There! You can also add places or UTC offsets. All of them packed nicely in your menubar.

Hey PH, I’m Dena! I wanted to create an easy-to-use and native timezone tracker because I was tired of dealing with UTC offsets and trying to remember which of our friends are in which time zone. So, made There. 6 years ago, my co-creator Mo, had built an earlier version of There which was used by +17k people including people from Apple, Amazon, Zapier and more. But I wanted to build a native version which is beautiful and lightweight! With There, you can add people with names and photos instead of just time zones. You can even fetch their photo by entering a Twitter (X) username. Plus, you can search by city names, countries, offsets, or even abbreviations like PST. It's open source and written in Swift and SwiftUI. Github: https://github.com/dena-sohrabi/... I hope you enjoy using it 🫑 Feel free to ask me any questions!

@denasohrabi Thank you for making a new version of There after 6 years! It's a really great app. Well done! I love using it to track time zones of people I frequently interact with. It's so handy. The previous version that I had built back then was around 200 mb in size and required an account and network access to work. But this app since it's native is only 5 mb and it's light on RAM while in the background. Also it looks beautiful!

@denasohrabi Amazing work, just curious on how will it be monetized? Classic work, all the best!

@denasohrabi @prad_vv Great question, we don't have a plan for monetizing it now, we just love to make this app for people who need it! Our paid product is https://inline.chat which is a chat app for teams.

I've been using There since it's initial launch, years ago, and I'm loving the new native version!! It's surprisingly hard to find a visually appealing and minimalist time zone tracker app, and I love the easy access from the menu bar

Just let me auto-schedule based on the timezones and you've got my $$$$

Awesome idea! How does it handle daylight saving time changes, and can you customize notifications for different time zones? Excited to see how this makes staying connected easier!
Mo
Maker
@allen_xu1130 It handles daylight saving times and kept up to date automatically because it uses Apple's system APIs that are always updated automatically by Apple.

Just fantastic, love it sitting there in the menubar. Have already passed it on to my international team to use. Now we won't be contacting each other at the wrong time of day :)

Congratulations on your launch @denasohrabi and the Team! It's exciting to see how your tool can help users track local times across various cities without the confusion of time zone abbreviations. I’m curious, how does your application handle daylight saving time changes for different locations?
Dena Sohrabi
@shiva_tejasvi Thanks @shiva_tejasvi! Yes, it handles daylight saving time changes. We use Apple's API to manage this.
Andy Hwang
Love the concept! As someone who works with international teams, this could be a real time-saver. One suggestion: it'd be awesome if you could integrate calendar syncing to show when contacts are available or in meetings. Also, any plans for a mobile version? That would be super handy for quick checks on the go. Keep up the great work!
Dena Sohrabi
@andyroamer Thank you for your comment Andy! Great suggestion, Mobile version as widget is in my plan for later updates. Let me know if you have any other suggestions!
