Thinker offers three essential features: A Kanban Board to Track your Todos, A Feature-rich Whiteboard, and a scratch pad. You can create projects within Thinker with each project having these three features attached with them.
Hello everyone! Arjun here, a software engineer turned filmmaker, solopreneur, and creator of Thinker. When "Some Products" wanted to charge me 10 Dollars per month from my almost empty pocket for Whiteboarding and Notion had a learning curve steeper than my Bachelor's Degree, I thought of creating Thinker. When my friends tested it out, It was a sudden hit. That's when I realized I could make some pocket money. I did some more market fit testing with random people and Viola, emails started flooding in saying this was exactly what they wanted. Something minimal and essential-only is what Thinker aims to be!
It is currently an offline Note taking app but I am already working on building the cloud Integration for it and It should be out by mid-August (I'm also working on a feature film project of mine).
I hope you guys enjoy the product and Feel free to reach out to me for any feature requirents or hate speech! Would definitely enjoy both!
@gandalf_the_white Hey Gandalf! AS of now there is no support for web. But thinker cloud will feature web. Ill tell you the problem: For me to host in web, I will have to go to external cloud providers for hosting data for Thinker which will be a lot of cost for me without a subscritpion model in place and I wanted to have this product available for a cheap price as well so the best option for me was to build Thinker Local, whichs stores all your data locally!
However when I launch thinker cloud, I will launch a web version as well!
Congrats on the launch! How do you ensure the app stays user-friendly while still offering enough functionality to meet diverse needs? Can't wait to see what the cloud integration brings to the table!
@r_martirosyan Thank you, Roman! Since this product came as a result of my personal needs, I follow 'Do little to do more' principle when designing so only those features that are essential at the fingertips for a user will be part of Thinker.
And yes! Cloud will bring in real-time team Collaboration!
Upvoted coz sounds like it could be catnip for productivity. Plus, having everything in one spot is clutch.
Does Thinker play well with team collaboration, though? Keen to know if we can all doodle and drop tasks in real time without stepping on each other's digital toes.
If this tool can cut down the clutter on my desk and desktop, I'm all in. 📊🖌️
@aman_wen Thank you so much! Yep the idea was to have minimal requirements met in a single place without bloating it with too many features.
As of now I have not thought of team collaborations since the current launch is a local device application and not cloud. But Thinker Cloud will have team collaborations.
Please do let me know how you find the product to be and give feedback on how I can better it! Thank you for taking time on sharing your thoughts!
What a cool idea! I often find myself using pen and paper for mindmaps and notebooks for ideas, but that gets messy… I’m looking forward to try this! Great job Arjun!
@treyww Thank you so much Trey! Yes it is the very exact reason I built Thinker as I was facing the same problem. Do let me know How you find the product and looking forward to your feedback!
@heard Thank you! No there isnt a web version and wont be there in the future as well. Mainly because this is a desktop app and doesnt have a usecase on the web - please advise me otherwise.
@heard Main issue being the cost to host the data - i will have to incorporate a subscription modal which will be a little pocket heavy for some folks hence avoiding web version for now but will definitely give it a shot when I am building Thinker cloud
Hi Arjun - I like this a lot because it gives you the flexibility of a jamboard and has sticky notes that you can move freely around as well as a textbox and ways to catalog it (similar to Notion). Also love the chaotic humming in the demo, haha.
Would you make this for teams? Are you selling based on taking business away from Notion based on price? Curious what you think the market size for this is based on this target customer profile.
@siran_jiang Thank you so much Siran! Haha 😂 the humming was very impromptu
To answer your question:
1. Thinker cloud will have feature to share the project with multiple people.
2. I feel notion does a lot more than what thinker offers, but its an overkill for most users. This is more focused around project management and ideation for individual or small teams - More like a Milanote alternative
3. Not sure about this, but collaborative workspaces have huge market as people use it for journaling, maintaining wikies and more and there are full blow complex tools as well like obsidian and notion which have like a million users
