It's been fun seeing Tilt evolve, @jjbeshara. You started off as a crowdfunding service, and while there's an element of that in Tilt 3.0, it appears to have taken a backseat. Why deprioritize crowdfunding?
James Beshara
@rrhoover for mobile, it's important for us to prioritize 1) content consumption and 2) prioritize the kind of 'content' that a user will create on the go. in addition to those two things, for a payments app where the average user has over 120 friends on the platform, even though it wasn't something we thought we'd build, now/looking back, it seems almost obvious that we should have a way for you to send one of those friends money directly (or request it from 3-4 friends).

Strange, I'm still getting the old version on the app store.

Hi James, great product. Quick question, if say a friend is paying me back for lunch, is it a 1 to 2 day wait before I can get that money from Tilt into my bank account? @jjbeshara
James Beshara
@xstex Hi Stephen! Funds are automatically transferred to your account each day for your bank to process (which is usually overnight). There is no wallet that the funds sit in that you have to go in and manually request payout from.

Congrats on the launch, @Jjbeshara! As you expand internationally, how do you prioritize which countries to go into first?

Hey PH, excited to launch Tilt 3.0 -- our best mobile experience yet for both iOS and Android. For those that haven't used Tilt, it's a social payments app that we think is the easiest (and funner-est) way to collect, fundraise, and sell with your community. And we're unbiased. With Tilt 3.0, there are a lot of new features, performance updates, and polish items in the apps, but perhaps the biggest new feature (especially for our international markets) is that we've built in 1:1 payments in addition to the social, group-oriented 'tilts' that are for collecting, fundraising, or selling. For any interested, here is some of the backstory of Tilt 3.0: As we started to go international last year (in 9 countries now, about to be 10!), we kept getting the request from our international markets to build in 1:1 payments into the app. Though Venmo is widely used here in the US, it's not live in any other countries, so this request kept coming up over and over. Until now, we've abstained from the 1:1 feature-set to date because the more future, and more group-oriented activity is what makes Tilt special in our minds -- but after getting the requests from users, we built a 1:1 beta in the app in January and tested it with ~1,500 users in the US, Canada, and the UK -- and the users that tried the feature ended up creating over 34% more tilts (!) even here in the US. So... with our community asking for it and with it leading to the creation of more of the public content that we love seeing in the app, we're pumped to announce this big app update. Test it out. The payouts are automatic and overnight (faster than Venmo; and will soon be instant), and the pricing is the exact same. So let us know what you think (especially the Canadians and Brits on PH! Coming soon to France, Australia, and more), and see if it's the future of social payments with you and your friends. Here's our blog post that lists all the new features in Tilt 3.0: http://bit.ly/2aIjoB3 Will try to be on here throughout the day answering any questions. @jjbeshara That's great. Is the idea here that the cost of running the 1:1 will be offset by the gains in the group feature? PS: Wow! From 9 countries to 3,628,800 countries is a big jump!

@jjbeshara so proud of the whole company, James. This is a great accomplishment in a long line of 'Em for tilt.

@jjbeshara Really think that tilt could dethrone Venmo now. Automated transfers of funds to bank is the key. Venmo is SO frustrating in that regard.

This is great - also, I heard that Venmo has like 4 developers that stopped updating the app since Paypal acquihired them.

Love every iteration of Tilt! This one could be a super interesting game-changer for me in terms of being able to afford running events by doing ticket sales built in.

I love the flow for Organize. It's a better version of what Venmo was trying to do with Groups. That said, this feels extra Venmo-y in terms of visuals.

@mattahorton thanks matt. For second part, how about we take this to snapchat uname: tilthq and I'll show you some of the other designs we tested/played around with
