@jay_bee12345 thank you Jaswinder very much, you're awesome!! There are some use cases that we didn't think about.

@ttrauser @rohit11 Hello again, Bonus Use Case Idea: Lawyers & Judges will have excellent UX with your great product! Thanks again, Jaswinder Brar
Manuel Bruschi
@jay_bee12345 @rohit11 I like the bonus - that goes along with ours :) thanks!

@ttrauser take a look at iOS sign up pop up. Typed in email but went in invisible. Maybe me. But worth a look.
Manuel Bruschi
@loganhale thanks Logan, will have a look on that!

Great product! What pushed you guys to do the pen as well? Seems like you could do the same product without the pen and just have each side have a corresponding number. Then have the it be dry erase and let the user manually put in the name. (this would probably bring down the price significantly) Also, Zei can read the writing on each side and convert handwriting to characters? That's impressive.
Manuel Bruschi
@james_osullivan hey James, we didn't made the erasable pen itself, it's just a rebranded pen that works best with ZEIº. I'm very sorry, but I don't get what you mean with "then have the it be dry erase and let the user manually put in the name". We have not added any handwriting recognition yet, but it's on our idea-list. At the moment people can write with the pen and dry erase it with the top of the pen, still we're trying to find a better material which works with whiteboard markers, doesn't makes your hands dirty and still feels good.

This looks cool. But I still has the same issue with every other time tracking service in the universe - you need to actively stop/start the tracking. The only real revolution in time tracking will be when your device (whether it's a computer or a laptop or a wearable) will know automatically when and what to track. Accurate Time Tracking AI. ATTAI?
Manuel Bruschi
@danr_4 We believe that would not only be revolutionary, but it would be the end :) the end of manual time tracking and everyone is happy. ATTAI = $$$. What we experienced so far during interviews is that people are afraid of automatic time tracking as then they would feel kind a pressure to be productive 100% of the time even if it's not possible...
Jesse de Boer
Really cool product! Any plans for a Slack intergration so colleagues can see what you've been doing or to send you some daily/weekly statistics?
Manuel Bruschi
@jesse_de_boer hey jesse, thanks! Yep - definitely a way to go and we have plans for that. Just another bot for Slack :) what kind of statistics would you like to see?
Jonathan Z. White
I love the concept and simplicity of the design. Does this give you reminders when you pass a certain time threshold? If so, I could see teams using this to run sprints and keep track of time spent on each tasks.
Manuel Bruschi
@jonathanzwhite thanks Jonathan! When you think about reminders do you mean vibration, sound, etc. or a notification on the phone/computer/email?
Yulian Ustiyanovych
Very cool idea! Does ZEI has feedback functionality (vibration, sound, whatever...), so I can set each project max/min time to work on? Already signed up ;)
Manuel Bruschi
@yulian_ustiyanovych thanks for the feedback Yulian! Well this would fall into the category of customized reminders. We don't have any plans for that right now, but as we want to add Pomodoro support as well, we need to add some kind of reminder functionality. Would you prefer a physical feedback functionality or would a notification/email on the mobile/computer be enough?
Manuel Bruschi
Hey guys, I'm one of the founders behind ZEI°. We believe that hardware can finally make time tracking effortless and instant. But we don't want to create just one more time tracking solution as there are already many out there - therefore we integrate it into existing solutions like @toggl @harvest @timeneye @wunderlist @trello etc... I'm happy to answer your questions! Cheers, Manuel
Mario Fraiß-Kollmanitsch
Hi Manuel, you guys should definitely realize integration with @jira @tempo timetracking too ;)
Manuel Bruschi
@mfraiss @jira @tempo yes it's on our roadmap.
Mark Donne
Such a smart idea! When I was a freelancer I could have used something like this, and the price is right.
Manuel Bruschi
@mark_donne thanks Mark - really appreciate that! Good luck with Burn
Manuel Bruschi
@mark_donne we'll try our best!
Rohit Srivastwa
May be next version can have a screen (e-ink) on all surface to show the time right there. And may be the lap timing as well.
Manuel Bruschi
@rohit11 Hey Rohit, thanks for the suggestions! e-ink is on our roadmap as well. What do you mean by lap timing?
Rohit Srivastwa
@ttrauser Task 1 - session 1 - 10:04 minutes. Same Task - session 2 (doing again after a gap) shows last time you spent 10:04, now counting.... and total at the end of day Hope you got that
Manuel Bruschi
@rohit11 got it! Thanks for explaining!
Marc Cenedella
Pretty skeptical of most time tracking ideas. This one looks pretty nice -- the physicality of it, the size, the way it will sit on your desk. I really think this looks like a winner.
Manuel Bruschi
@cenedella Thanks Marc, really appreciate your comment!

Had to come back and edit my question. The @timeular is on point. Very responsive and obviously invested and intelligent in their approach with ZEI°. I am looking forward to this!
Ashwin Pillai
This kind of thing is exactly what I've been looking for. I love that this is the only thing that this product does. The pain point on the phone is that I have to open an app or switch to it when I want to switch tasks. Excited to see it once it launches.
Manuel Bruschi
@ashwn Thanks Ashwin, that's exactly what we experienced so far. There are many awesome mobile apps out there, well designed and with great UX, still opening the app and switching is sometimes a pain point. We're excited as well :)
Mario Fraiß-Kollmanitsch
This great device innovates the way people can track their time in future! Looking forward to the launch!
Toon Nelissen
Hi Zei°, Three years ago we invented the almost the same product, we couldn't find the time nor the investments needed for this idea. I'm very happy to see this product is finally going to be produced, also a bit sad that we did not made this product. Our market-research showed that their would definitely be a market for it. Our TimeKube (Yes, we used a cube) had also some color led's in it to the tell the user if it was tracking or not. Because we alway forget our timetracking tools, right? We also added some motion gestures to get our timetracking app to the foreground of our screen. I'll hope their will be a public api available to implement this into different applications. We use @jira , it would be cool feature if would warn if you go over the budget time. Good idea to not release now, but later in the year. Use the time to make it a better product, but keep it simple. Concerns/Questions: * Will it get dirty over time? * Will my hands get dirty? * Will you provide a public api? * Can I take it with me in my bag, will it start to track? * If I take it in my bag how will the surface of the Zei° be after a while? * How easy will it charge? With a cable or on a wireless charging pad? * Can I use my own pens? Or could I buy more colors? Just mail me at toon at appsaloon.be if you like to talk about it more, happy to share our knowledge.
Manuel Bruschi
@toonnelissen hey, sorry for the very late reply. Somehow I didn't got notifications about the new comments here. I'm glad you liked it and thank you for your support. Funnily we started as well with a cube but throughout the user interviews it evolved to a octagon. We have added some motion gestures as well, but right now they are not good enough to be claimed. Regarding you questions: * Will it get dirty over time? Will my hands get dirty? If you use stickers or our recommended pens, then no. Otherwise it depends from you. * Will you provide a public api? Not from the very first day but yes. * Can I take it with me in my bag, will it start to track? Yes. We will work on something like a "Shock-Protection", still not shure if this is going to be there from the first day. * If I take it in my bag how will the surface of the Zei° be after a while? Didn't tested yet. The material is very robust and easy to clean however it depends what else is in your bag. * How easy will it charge? With a cable or on a wireless charging pad? It has a coin battery on the inside which lasts for at least 1y and you can easily replace it. * Can I use my own pens? Or could I buy more colors? We're testing a lot of different pen and material combinations in order to give you as much freedom as possible but still keeping your hands clean. Not an easy challenge but we're on a good way.
Jozef Maxted
Any chance of a public api? We use our own bespoke time tracker but would love to use this!
Manuel Bruschi
@jozefmaxted hey Jozef, right now we don't have plans for that but soon or later we will add that as well. But what we offer from the first day is a CSV export. Maybe you can use that?
Mark

Playing with my Makerkit is a lot of fun, but took a while to get it right. I really like having the physical object to turnover, but the apps also work great on the phone. Main downside is that when my laptop is shutdown / hibernates, the zei does not always reconnect. Means I just use the app instead.

Pros:

Great Apps, very nice to have a physical device to turnover

Cons:

Disconnecting issues with laptop hibernation

Chris Generalis
Hi @ttrauser - the concept is great and we would love to explore an integration with @tsheets soon too!
Leo Zakour
When can I buy it?
Manuel Bruschi
@leozakour thanks for the interest and sorry for the late reply. The pre-orders start on the beginning of September.
