Tiptap is a suite of open source content editing and real-time collaboration tools for developers building apps like Notion or Google Docs. Itβs used by thousands of businesses worldwide, including GitLab, Axios, and Substack.
Hi all π We're Nick, Patrick, Philip, Sebastian, Sven, and Timo from tiptap.dev.
Building collaborative editor interfaces in your app takes a lot of work and time. That's why we've made Tiptap, a suite of open source tools and cloud services that allows web developers to build sophisticated content editing experiences in their apps much faster. Need a lightweight rich text editor? Use Tiptap. Creating the next Notion? Use Tiptap.
We would love to hear your feedback and join our welcoming community on Discord: https://tiptap.dev/discord and GitHub: https://github.com/ueberdosis/ti....
Cheers βοΈ

Congratulations on developing Tiptap! This open-source suite is a game changer for web developers.π₯ Tiptap makes content creation easy and saves time and effort. Good luck to the Tiptap team!π Great job!πͺ
Tiptap is the best open source editor out there, and extending it is surprisingly easy. This allowed us to stand up a pretty awesome editor at my company in less than a week, with features that none of our competitors had. Inspirational and also super cool that this comes out of an open source collective. Def try it!
@sentry_co Yes, Notion has their own framework. Let's see if they'll use Tiptap in the future. :) You can see the apps who are using Tiptap on the penultimate slide here and on our website.
@sentry_co We use it heavily at featureOS (https://featureos.app). We found TipTap to be super useful after moving from other editors like Slate, TinyMCE, Draft, and Editor.js. We even created our own back in 2019, but it was super hard. When we tasted TipTap for the first time (when they were in beta), we fell in love with it. Especially with the way it works, and the ease of use.
Tiptap is the best text editor IMO. I've been using the Mantine UI wrapper for tiptap for my last project (@mantine/tiptap). The new AI features look really cool!
@sebastianschrama_tiptap Yes, an optional UI package could be helpful, especially if someone wants to build something quickly or is getting to know the platform. But the core packages being unstyled is great if you're building something complex / custom.
You know @philip_isik , I've been using TipTap (the editor) since its very very early days. It's been quite amazing to use. But your tag line now say s"building collaborative apps", I'm curious why the change in direction? my guess is going for bigger and higher impact? Either way, congrats man!
Thanks for your kind words @ahmedsaleh! We believe that real-time collaboration on content will become more and more important, and with Tiptap we want to give developers a platform to build these applications! Of course, you can always use Tiptap without collaboration π
Congrats on the launch, I love TipTap!
I reviewed a bunch of editing libraries before picking TipTap to build https://duckbook.ai
Things I love: nice high-level interfaces to customize behavior, can write my own plugins, interactive node views are powerful, and it's built on ProseMirror (so you can pop the hood to a lower level if needed).
Overall, I've been really happy with the choice, and building a slick Notion-like editor product has been fun :)
@hadifarnoud, thanks for your feedback! With our editor and the collaboration backend Hocuspocus, a large part of our code base is open source. It's a challenge to release something for free to the public and on the other hand generate revenue to make the development of the open source core sustainable for the future.
@sujeetjaiswara Tiptap is framework agnostic. You can use it with every JavaScript framework you want. A guide for Angular is missing, but we currently have guides for React, Vue, etc. You can find it here: https://tiptap.dev/installation
@wickedmishra thanks for your lovely comment! What was the last project where you used Tiptap? Do you have ideas for using collaboration and our brand-new feature AI?
So good to see TipTap launch a paid plan. Totally worth it.
We have been using TipTap as our main editor (OSS version) for a while now at featureOS (https://featureos.app), and it has been the most comfortable and stable implementations we've ever done.
@patrick_baber We've been using TipTap since Q1 last year. We're now implementing for our other product (helpOS) which heavily relies on real-time collaborative editing using HocusPocus. Can't wait to show it to the world soon. Here's a preview: https://twitter.com/imkarthikk/s...
Please hit me up if you need to hop on featureOS to start collecting feature requests for the new TipTap. :)
