Hi everyone! It's a fun time at TotalAV, this iOS app has been the first so far to demonstrate a new design style. We've listened to our users and tailored the feature set, added dark mode and we're about to issue a really nice update in July meaning our dangerous website protection service (WebShield) can run concurrently with VPN functionality. I'd love to get feedback from the ProductHunt community on the UI and UX design! Can't wait to introduce our Android app soon too!

Won't google / apple / online-banks think that when I login from a random IP from another country, that im being hacked and lock me out of my account?
Arbaaz
@sentry_co well, isn't that how VPNs usually work? And why would they lock you out for logging from a different location?
André J
@arbaazio I often get suspisouse activity alert when I go travel. Especially from google, apple, banks. Sometimes they lock me out and I have to go through a lot of steps to get back in. Over sensitive security systems in the big tech companies. Happens with twitter / face / LinkedIn etc as well.

@arbaazio @sentry_co That is certainly a risk with VPN. By default, the pre-set in TotalAV is to use the nearest, which for the majority of our users will be a server in there own country. (see screenshot ) It is likely the nearest will also be the quickest, but crucially from our perspective, as a cybersecurity provider, means the connection is encrypted giving users on Public Wi-Fi better protection on open networks. Research has shown me in the past that VPN country server choice can lead to decision paralysis. This is why we've made the default option as simple as possible for novice users, with no baffling about countries and servers.

@arbaazio @matt_curd Do you use shared or individual IP for each account?
Matt Curd
@arbaazio @sentry_co Shared IP addresses
