Trace is a time-tracking app for your Mac that helps you understand how you spend your time. It monitors your app and website activity, presenting a clear and straightforward timeline of your usage.
This looks great, TK! I love the minimal design, perfect for an app in this space. Do you plan on building an iOS companion app so time can be tracked between devices?
Hey everyone!
I'm excited to launch a new version of Trace today, a macOS app designed to help you understand and optimize how you spend your time.
After trying countless time-tracking apps, I realized none of them gave me a clear view of where my time was actually going—so I built Trace to fill that gap.
Here's what makes Trace very useful:
- Built-in activity monitoring: Automatically tracks the apps and websites you visit.
- Block apps & websites: Block distracting apps/sites when you need to focus (and yep, it works with Firefox!)
- Visual timelines: View your app activity in a clean, color-coded timeline
- Session overviews: Get daily and monthly summaries to understand your habits
- Privacy-first: All your tracking data is stored locally and never leaves your device
Try it out and let me know if you have any questions or feedback!
I often find myself wondering where my time actually goes, and standard time trackers don’t really give a full picture. The color-coded timeline sounds like a great way to visualize this.
Does Trace also track idle time or breaks?
