Hey everyone, I'm introducing to you my new creation - TripGenie: Flight prices in Booking.com!
After the successfully launch of TripGenie for Airbnb on Product Hunt I heard your feedback and decided to create its sibling - TripGenie for Booking.com!
About the tool:
I built TripGenie mainly for the use case of exploring stays with flexible dates. Finding optimal dates between air travel and available accommodation can be tedious, especially when there are multiple itineraries/dates at a similar price. That's where we can utilize the 'flexible' feature in Booking.com, along with TripGenie's ability to display flight prices for each listing.
I hope you all like it and find it useful! Cheers :)
Hello there! The launch of TripGenie for Booking.com sounds like a natural and valuable extension to your existing TripGenie for Airbnb. The flexible feature is especially appealing for those juggling various travel dates and itineraries.
Do you have any plans to incorporate other travel-related services into the TripGenie ecosystem?
Cheers to streamlining travel planning even further with this new tool!
@adrian_chapman1 When a booking.com webpage is opened, TripGenie loads flight details and displays them next to each listing. So it's close to real-time, because the website needs to update for the flight information to update as well.
I love the idea but am weary of installing Chrome extensions. They are notorious for hackers - and have been hacked via a Chrome Extension, if only there was another approach because the idea is great, and I love it.
@berthakgokong thats an unfortunate experience.
Extensions have been getting a security overhaul with the move to manifest v3 to solve some of the previous issues. Publishing an extension with permissions requests is now very difficult (good!) and everything your extension asks for needs to be justified. And the review process takes weeks.
Additionally extension code cannot be obfuscated, so anyone can inspect the code now and figure out what extensions are doing. No system is perfect, but its definitely improving.
Hopefully good experiences going forward :)
