That's a quite interesting product that potentially could disrupt media/news market. It will be easier to share your opinion on a particular topic, without spending precious time on Facebook for making a post. Good job guys. Hope it would gain a critical mass of influencers for sustain growth.
I love the app already π. It is great to hear the opinions of others with the ability to respond to them. This will definitely be an app I will keep using. Great jobππΎ
Thanks for hunting us @rrhoover!
Hello everyone, today we are happy to introduce Tumbleweed, a platform to speak openly and honestly about the topics that matter π
I'm sure @mrciscoadler and @shaunneff will add more comments to this since we've been working really hard to make something that could truly reinvent how people consume/react to news and current events in the world.
At it's very core we've aimed to create a product that gives people a voice to speak up on what matters to them and to magnify that through the power of network and our contributors, since we believe everyone deserves a voice and a chance to be heard in a cluttered information blackhole we call internet π₯
We will be around whole day, so feel free to check out the app and ask us anything, feedback is much appreciated <3
As someone who share my thoughts daily on snapchat, this is pretty much an extension, but being able to reach more public audience on larger topics. Pretty cool! If theres a business section .. you'll see me hanging around there! ;P
At this point youβve heard it all. Iβd mimic what youβre seeing from everyone who found you before I did. Love it. The app worked just fine. Great design. Amazing purpose and well timed given the environment weβre moving into over the next 4 years. I will definitely be thinking about jumping in and contributing. Kudos to you all for building such a product & best wishes on getting this out there. Stay motivated-this is great.
@chrismessina hey! Thanks for chatting. Sort of...on a base level maybe. We are more focused on providing a new way to both consume the news and to speak up on it. We think the fact that we have an awesome in house editorial team of curators that populate the featured feed and constantly ping stories out to the most relevant contributor makes us different. We are all about less noise and more conversations about issues that face our generations...look forward to your thoughts. Did u play with it yet?
Agree with @rrhoover here. This will hinge on a healthy community of contributors. It feels quite like an open mic for the public to speak up/respond to current events, which should be valuable for traditional media.
@romanzadyrako it's a digital Soap-Box! Speak up and be heard! The other social platforms have too much noise for the important issues to find their way through...we want to create conversation which creates community, understanding, empathy, and hopefully change...
Saw TW featured in the "news" section of the App Store yesterday. Awesome app to "stand up" & share your opinion via the least path of resistance .. #Video π₯π₯π₯
Wow, so I'm late the the Party!? Thanks @rrhoover for hunting this!
I'm pretty sure the election results have made everybody, from both sides, feel more strongly about the next four years than any other possible outcome. We made this app to help facilitate the discussion necessary to create the change we need! In a time where the internet is filled with so much noise(and literally fake news), we hope to make this the platform to cut through the clutter and bring whats most important to the to everyone's attention.
Hunters, thank for making this a great start to the beginning of hopefully a new influential community!
Big fan of the UI and the unique concept behind Tumbleweed. I've been beta testing the app and I believe that it is very important that the power gets put into the hands of the people who are experiencing certain issues, which does not happen now in traditional news reporting.
One feature that I enjoy in particular is being able to pitch your own stories directly through the app. Very excited to see how Tumbleweed continues to evolve!
Tumbleweed's goal was to become as a service to give millennials a voice in today's news cycle.
We're excited to see the community around Tumbleweed grow and have had a few eye-opening insights about 1) What people care about, and 2) What people really feel about, and how past experiences shape their opinion on current issues today.
Thanks for the love, we'll be around all day answering questions π―π―π― π ππ»
If Whale and New York Times had a baby, this might be it.
I really like the concept, if they can build a healthy community and attract entertaining/insightful contributors (it's hard to produce good video). Downloading this now. Will report back with impressions. π
@rrhoover i remember when this launched last year. It used to be editorial-created news memes. Looks like a re-boot to a UGC video community and seems like a great idea
@rrhoover thanks my man! We really think we got something here so it's great to see you think so too! Let's turn the tables on news and media and give the kids the power to speak up and tell the news as they see it. Love all the feedback. Helps so much...
Hi @rrhoover really interesting hunt, Congratulations! to @mrciscoadler & his team.
I would love to collaborate with @mrciscoadler on this and create a chatbot for this so that it becomes available to larger audience across interfaces. @mrciscoadler let me know if we can. π
