Justin.tv is timely with all the attention on Meerkat, Periscope, and renewed interest in livestreaming video. @joshconstine wrote a great article in TC, defending the "why now" argument. TL;DR excerpt: 1) Portability opens up more compelling content that’s not trapped in a bedroom or studio 2) Stronger mobile networks mean people can stream or watch in high-quality on the go 3) Better cameras and screens make it all look good. 4) Existing social and interest graphs make it quick to build an audience. I'll add #5: More people are creating content and willing to to express themselves less edited. Snapchat can take part of the credit for this large behavioral shift (@benrbn, the CEO of Meerkat, mentioned this as well on Product Hunt Radio).
