Use ChatGPT with enhanced features like fast response, chat search, integrations, prompt library, etc.
Use your own API Key, run locally on your browser, macOS App, and self-host available.
Hello everyone! It's Tony 👋
I was so annoyed by how ChatGPT slowly typed out the answers + kept logging me out every day, so I built a new UI on top of its API.
Introducing https://typingmind.com ✨
Over the past week, I have added so many convenience features to enhance the overall chatting experience with ChatGPT. I'm so excited to share it with you all here.
You will to have your OpenAI API key in order to use the app.
You can buy a license key to unlock all the features like prompt library, chat history search, AI characters, macOS app, self-host option, etc.
Would love to hear all your feedback! Thank you! 😊
Love all these frontends coming out for ChatGPT and other AI tools!
Do you have plans for image generation as well? Would love to get the evoke-app.com API working on this
Congrats on your launch!
Congrats Tony! Your UI is neat and the product is awesome 🚀
I have been following on Twitter for a while. I love your speed of execution. It took you a few days to launch this product which is insane efficiency. You always seem to favor one time purchase business models, though. Can I ask you why?
Love the product, keep up the good work @trungdq88! Was wondering though, since you use the API of ChatGPT is there a way for you to build in a feature to paste in longer data?
Let's say you have a piece of content of 10K words and you want it summarized, with standard ChatGPT you're running into limits when pasting in your content. Is there a way for you to build it that chunks it up and like this, circumvents these limits and allows for bigger data sets to work with?
Getting fed up with the "The message you submitted was too long, please reload the conversation and submit something shorter." and looking for ways around that.
If you’ve add that, that would make it a total game changer!
@trungdq88@jcvangent The token limit is for the whole chat, including history (as far as I know). You could combine all the summaries, save them in a DB, and feed the smaller summaries back in ChatGPT. Not sure if that will yield great results though.
Maybe GPT-4 will improve?
@remco_strij your process sounds exactly something you would do with an api tool like this indeed, while we cross our fingers that chatgpt 4 will allow it easier
Hi-ya developers ! Well done on getting your startup on the Product Hunt! I love what you did! I've only got a single question. What are you planning to add in near future?
@trungdq88 this is great!
Too bad OpenAI doesn't offer OAuth so users don't have to trust API keys to third parties.
BTW @trungdq88 do you have any plans on offering a self-hosted version with the API stored on the back end side?
I'd definitely purchase the app then, because local storage is not considered a secure place.
Check out this OWASP page about security implications of using browser's local storage (this is what TypingMind is using currently): https://cheatsheetseries.owasp.o...
I had one question: How do you handle the API keys. When he said they're stored locally, I thought. I'm buying it right now. It helped that Tony is one of my favorite makers and I had just seen a break down of how much cheaper it is to use the API over ChatGPT plus.
Nice one Tony!
Love this tool as it makes ChatGPT quite usable. I didn't use ChatGPT before, but I am now finding many use-cases for it with a TypingMind interface. Such a simple idea, and you can count on Tony for great execution.
You said you created Typing Mind because you were "so annoyed by how ChatGPT slowly typed out the answers", yet your solution shows an intrusive popup that FORCES the user to pay or wait 10 seconds to continue. This happens every single time I hit "regenerate". Every. Single. Time.
Every once in a while I get the following error message: "Something went wrong. Please try again or contact support. Opening the console might help clarifying the issue". Where's the console? Where do I find more details about the error? Although ChatGPT can be annoying, this is outright frustrating.
Responses are often shown as code, even when the prompt doesn't include such request. This makes it hard to read the full answers and copy selectively. I feel like you could use more space on the screen, especially on smaller screens like mine. There is a lot of white space and a non-collapsible sidebar.
Other than that, it's pretty neat. I love the dark mode and the entire UI. I'd be happy to pay for such a tool if it was working properly. Guess I'll wait until the beta is over and the issues are fixed!
Congratulations on the launch of Typing Mind! This looks like an amazing product with lots of useful features. I'm excited to see what kind of conversations it will help foster!
Congratulations on launching Typing Mind! This tool seems like it could be incredibly useful for improving typing speed and accuracy. The ability to customize lessons based on personal goals and track progress over time is a great feature.
TypingMind + ChatGPT is a game-changer for me as a Webflow expert. It makes my coding work so much easier and faster, leaving me more time to focus on the fun stuff.
I highly recommend TypingMind to other Webflow pros out there, or anyone looking for a powerful and user-friendly coding tool. Give it a try and see how it can simplify your workflow.
I'd like to use this, but will not share my api...too big an opportunity for hackers for me to be comfortable, no matter how much I'd like to use this product. This is not a knock on the product or company. This is my own paranoia.
