I really wanted to like this product, but every version has been buggy. The latest update immediately corrupts Chrome extensions and some app properties can't be edited once the app is created, notably Google sign-in. Which renders this software useless if you need to repair corrupt Chrome extensions.
@chanjohnathan Hi John,
Google sign-in can be updated within your Coherence app and using the app editor in the Coherence tool (this is bugged in the latest release - but the current internal build fixes and you can use the previous build to change bzgapps.com/downloads).
In particular, I agree the last two builds have been buggy due to our changing of the engine but continuing to improve. Please stay tuned for the next update (probably this week) as I think it addresses most problems.
i have only tried Fluid and Web2Desk...how is this different?
one annoying thing for me was the inability to use the right click menu in apps like Airtable. Were you able to fix that?
@temirlan Fluid and Web2desk (and our app Unite) are WebKit based, and are unable to support Chrome-exclusive sites or extensions
I have never heard that right click menu in Airtable doesn't work in Coherence, and in fact this may be a core reason Coherence is beneficial over others. If it works in Chrome it should work here.
Hello Hunters!
Today, we're ecstatic to launch Coherence X, the latest entry in our industry leading SSB product, Coherence. This update includes dozens of major changes and improvements, including:
- Brave support: For those looking for a more privacy-centric way to create Coherence apps
- Intelligent whitelisting: Easily define allowed URLs and bump others to your default browser
- A drastically improved creation tool
- The new app manager and the ability to edit previously created apps
- A significantly improved backend
For launch day, hunters can get 25% off any Coherence X order or license type using the code 'Product Hunt' at checkout (including the great new Unite + Coherence bundle)!
We hope you love it as much as we do. Here's 5 complimentary licenses for the earliest hunters :-)

Thanks for reading!
@tiptronic I mean - if you put 'file://' into the Coherence tool it will not work, but if you create a Coherence app, and then directly go to such a page, it would probably have the same effect.
@bzg0515 Well - that's not really an advantage for me ;)
If the file:// protocol was supported, it would be a great tool to create offline-documentation.
@bzg0515 Ah - I am just reading this:
"Coherence X introduces the ability to share created apps with licensed users. Aside from that, Coherence and Unite apps are for personal use only and non-distributable."
So, effectively that means, even if it supports the 'file://' protocol, I am not allowed to create a standalone app (e.g. offline-documentation) and share it with my students - except they also bought a copy of Coherence?
@tiptronic yes, correct, Coherence apps can only be used by licensed users.
To clarify my last point a bit - technically each Coherence app is a full browser and should remember the state you left it in - so if you create a product hunt.com coherence app, but then change the URL to your local file, it should launch the next time (and subsequent times) to your local file.
Anyways, local files should be an easy change to support, high on my list of things to add
Don't buy this app. The developer updates their app frequently, and renames it, and charge you, for example, Coherence, Coherence Pro, Coherence Pro 2, Coherence X, etc. You will be charged by every SIMILAR app. I can tell you, After several months, there will be Coherence X 2. How Greedy. :-(
@sunnyheart This is an unfair criticism - we release a major update exactly once a year, and opt for optional, discounted paid upgrades as opposed to subscription pricing. You will find few users with this criticism.
Additionally, we continue to support the previous years version for at least a year after launch of the next (so, Coherence Pro 2 will be supported until at least May 2021).
@ryan_roberts1@sunnyheart You can see full release history at bzgapps.com/downloads

@bzg0515 I don't have time to confirm your information, BUT
Coherence 5: Aug 2017
Cohernece Pro: May 2018
Coherence Pro 2: June 2019
Coherence X: May 2020
It's also a good evidence~ Good luck for your fake one-time purchase. Maybe I can call it Subscription-LIKE strategy.
One of the most amazing tools on the planet! I could not survive without Coherence Pro!
Right now, I have over 45 apps created with Coherence -- all sites that I visit and use on a regular basis and I would be massively overwhelmed if I were in Chrome with so many tabs open.
I use workflowy for example and I easily have 10 apps with different links to different sections of workflowy so I can work on different parts of my business without needing to do crazy jumping around in workflowy
Coherence is the ONLY tool that would help me make that happen! GET Coherence and change your life!
Coherence was already good, and X provides some nice features! I didn't realize both it and Unite were available on Setapp (which I love). The site does a good job explaining the differences. I wish I'd checked before upgrading but...small price to pay to support a good app with solid communication from the creator!
What is the added benefit from using the built-in functionality within Chrome to create "App Shortcuts" that are also standalone, allow me to use extensions like 1Password, Keep, etc...", personalise both the Name and Icon... etc? Are they enough to justify the cost of this app?
@buckyrocks The primary benefit is the ability to keep them isolated from the rest of your workflow. This is relevant from both a privacy and a workflow perspective.
@buckyrocks@bzg0515 what does that mean? I have created a bunch of "App Shortcuts" here: chrome://apps and then change their icon in the Finder. My command-tab workflow is great as they are look and act like separate apps.
@buckyrocks@briansugar These are not shortcuts. They are isolated, independent, individualized applications with their own name, icons, bundle IDs, etc on macOS. You can also create 'standard' macOS type windows, selectively distribute extensions, bump non-primary URLs to your default browser (even if it isn't Chrome), and use tools like Choosy for creating workflow schemes.
