I've been using Momentum because of its gorgeous, full-width daily photos. I like that Unplash Instant shows a new photo each time you open a new tab (not daily) and gives you the option to download instantly.
@mikaelcho - are you planning on adding more features, like displaying the time, weather, etc... or are you going to keep it simple?
@jackdweck Hey Jack,
Thanks for trying out Instant! We're big fans of Momentum ourselves.
The idea was to keep Instant simple: serve beautiful photos from Unsplash in your new tabs.
With that in mind, we're not looking to add any more features other than speed optimization and/or minor visual tweaks.
This is wonderful! At Hitlist we introduced @wandertab a few months back and it's been a huge driver of traffic: it shows you a beautiful new picture and how much it costs to get there every time you open a new tab. I had been a fan of Momentum and other similar extensions but always wanted to know what it would take to actually get there.
We'd be very happy to collaborate and link back to Unsplash if you have location-specific photos.
@gillianim Hey Gillian!
That's awesome! We've definitely seen some strong wanderlust from the Unsplash community, so we'd love to talk more about that and make it happen. One of our API's would probably make it super easy. Want to shoot me an email at luke at unsplash dot com?
Thanks Gillian :)
Hey this is Mikael founder of Crew (https://crew.co) and Unsplash (https://unsplash.com/). My teammates @kirillz and @dechuck made this project during a one-day hack event we have each month.
We thought it'd be cool if each time you opened a new tab, you got a new hi-res photo from Unsplash's collection of 30,000+ (CC0 license: https://unsplash.com/license) photos curated by top design professionals. At the same, we're able to give more exposure to the photographers who have contributed their photos on Unsplash.
Because all the photos carry the CC0 license, each photo can be downloaded and used for anything for free.
Thanks for checking it out.
This is so refreshing, and helpful to keep adding to my amazing unsplash collection of photos. I've been using Currently (https://www.producthunt.com/tech...) for years, and this is the first Chrome extension worth replacing it. Great work!
@ianthekid Thanks for the kind words Ian! Means a lot to us.
We'd like to make Unsplash photos as accessible as possible. It was a no-brainer to build an extension to facilitate this process :)
Now imagine if you can Like photos directly from Instant ;)
Been a Momentum user for years but going to give this a shot.
I have synced these photos (Splashbox) to a Dropbox folder that powers my backgrounds so I think I'll like this as well.
