Nice app...My perspectives for this app might be different and really impressed if you have launched last year as within last 12-18 months this space of Notion alternatives have become very crowded with the apps out like Noto(Closest match to your app), Unit, Flight, Craft, Roam research, Walling, Obsidian and many more I am not aware of...Great that you have launched on many major platform(except Android) at the same time, many cant do it for years...Good luck.
Thomas
@nilsej, thanks for your comment :). We released UpNote about 2 years ago on App Store and Microsoft Store and have been polishing and adding more features to the app with our users' feedback. Hope you can give UpNote a try and let us know if you have any feedback, thanks!

Amazing! After a few days with UpNote i must say, i'm in love! Have been looking for something like this for years! Haven't found a simple/well designed lightweight notes app that syncs between iOS and Windows, thanks for making this!😍😁 My only concern is you being able to maintain support and the cloud data with the low cost of the monthly/lifetime plan. Services that provide cloud sync/storage usually don't sit well with lifetime plans in the long run, so I signed up for the monthly plan just to make sure you get some recurring revenue, but would love to pitch in more.😟 Don't take it the wrong way, i love the low price of it, but concerned that it won't be feasible in the long run. I hope you can allow for some higher priced monthly tier alternatives or ways to donate to the project to make sure it stays alive!🙏
Thomas
@fillwe hi Filippus, wow I’m so happy to hear that you like UpNote and thanks so much for your support! Yes maintaining an app with constant improvements is hard however we are deeply motivated by our users’ satisfaction and feedback. We do our best to keep our premium affordable as we figure out that the best way to sustain the app’s quality is to have as many users to use it as possible (and given our users’ positive conversion so far). So if you know anyone who may benefit from UpNote, please help us spread the words. We greatly appreciate that! <3

Looks interesting and clean!
Ram Patra
Looks good. May I ask whether there's a web version? Also, a comparison page comparing UpNote with other famous note apps would be great.
Thomas
hi @rampatra, we aim to have native apps for all platforms, and our number one priority now is to work on Android app. It's hard for me to compare with other apps, how about you try it out and let us know :). Thanks!
Edson Kan Ishigami
Hi @thomasdao, I'm a heavy user of Evernote and tried to use Bear and Notion. Now I'm testing UpNote and looks very promising. I've tried to get it on the Brazil App Store. But UpNote is not available yet. Do you have plans to make it available here? Thank you and congrats for UpNote.
Thomas
@ishigami could you use the links on top of this post? We have Brazil users as well :). Thanks!
Bob Lucore
It has bidirectional linking, attachments, images, markdown, great ability to export notes e is an unbelievable value at less than $15 lifetime. Slim and efficient.
Primer
It looks an awful lot like “Bear”. How do you differentiate?
Edson Kan Ishigami
@mickc79 Bear only works in Mac and iOS ecosystem. This is very limited for me. Unfortunately, I use Windows too.
Thomas
@mickc79 thanks for asking, we are quite different from Bear. First UpNote is not a markdown editor. Second, as Edson points out, UpNote is designed to work on all platforms. Other than that I hope you try it out and you could find the difference :)
Primer
@thomasdao Tried it. Like it. Is there a way to shut down the two sidebars and just have the editor open. I've looked around and couldn't find a way to do this. Sadly a dealbreaker for me.
Primer
@thomasdao ugh... just found "focus" mode. Sorry I saw that icon and assumed it meant fullscreen mode.
Thomas
@mickc79 Glad that you found it. Let us know if you have any questions, thanks :)
Lucas Glenn
I hella love that I can switch to times new roman for the UI. I miss basic looking apps and it's my vibe rn. 👌
Thomas
@lucaswglenn thanks, we’re glad that you like it :)
Evert
Looks awesome! Switched from Bear. Having trouble on El Capitan (10.11.6) after using text colour. Keeps crashing now.
Thomas
@evertsemeijn Thanks for letting us know, we'll investigate it.
Basim aman
Any chance of an Android app ?
Thomas
Hi @basim_aman, we are working on an Android app at the moment, we hope it would be available some time this year or early next year :)
Nicky Tillyer
Looks great, nice and clean, formatting of notes seems nicer than Evernote. I am curious as to the premium cost? I am on windows and it tells me I cannot upgrade to premium?
Thomas
hi @nicky_tillyer, the premium is currently $14.9 for lifetime upgrade. Sorry that we haven't been able to integrate payment on Windows, if you have iOS device you could upgrade there and the premium would sync to Windows. We hope to work on enabling premium upgrade on Windows soon.
Thomas
Hi everyone, We're very happy to introduce UpNote to Product Hunt community. UpNote is an easy-to-use notes app that is designed to work well on all platforms, and currently available on Mac, Windows and iOS. We hope it would be useful for you! As a heavy notes user, I have tried out several apps to manage my notes. However when I had more notes, many of them became cluttered and hard to manage. When I created UpNote, I wanted to make it really easy to manage notes even if I have a lot of notes. I also wanted it to work well on all platforms because I noticed many apps are for Apple devices only. It’s easy and intuitive to organize in UpNote. You could put your notes into nested notebooks, pin important notes on top or add them to quick access. The notes and notebooks can be re-arranged to your preferred order. To keep the workspace clean and uncluttered, you can close unused notebooks and open them later. You could immerse in your writing by switching to focus mode. With clean UI, elegant themes and rich editor, UpNote makes writing pleasant. You could add tables, checklists, images, files and links to your notes. Typewriter mode is also supported to help writing long notes comfortable. There are many more features in UpNote that you could explore. We are excited to hear any feedback you have and will do our best to improve UpNote in the future. P.S: We're giving 50% discount for Product Hunt users for 1 week. We hope you would enjoy using UpNote :)
Thomas
@ajay_prem_shankar Thank you, let us know if you have any feedback :)
David Leininger
@thomasdao can you have multiple authors/editor on a note? Looking for something I can share with my family and we can all update together.
Thomas
@davidleininger thanks for asking, UpNote currently doesn’t support that feature yet
Rachid Otsmane
This looks great, is there any plan for a web/browser based app at all?
Thomas
@rachid_otsmane Thanks for asking, we don't have plan for browser based app yet, our number one priority now is working on an Android app so that our users can sync data on all platforms :)

Feel like REAL note taking app! Thanks much for UpNote dev. I have some questions: 1. I just read your privacy policy. It states that - "Your notes will be stored on a CENTRAL SERVER...". Do you use encryption methods to store and protect those notes? 2. Android app in near future? 3. I love monospace font. In iOS app, only one monospace font to select - "Courier New". Could you please add more monospace font like Source Code Pro, DejaVu Sans Mono and the likes?
Thomas
@new_user_249ab8d66c Thanks for asking :) 1. We are encrypting your data in transit using HTTPS and also encrypting your data at rest. You could find more detail on our support page at https://getupnote.com/support.html 2. Yes we are working on Android app now and it may take some time, our best estimate is sometime this year or early next year :) 3. We will definitely check out these fonts. Since we need to bundle the fonts into the app and will increase the app size, we need to be a little more careful to select which fonts to include :) Please let us know if you have other questions, thanks!
Cput
@thomasdao I tried UpNote on Windows. * There is no way to select desired font in Windows 10 app. * Please provide installation file to download - NOT through Microsoft Store. * It'd be much better there is UpNote portable version for Windows.
Thomas
@new_user_249ab8d66c thanks for your feedback, we will definitely consider that
Thomas
@new_user_249ab8d66c We have released the beta version of UpNote on Android. If you like to try it out, please download here: https://play.google.com/store/ap... This version is for early access, so please let us know if you have any feedback while using it :) Thank you.

@thomasdao Stored data is at Firebase platform which is banned in China. Does UpNote work well if I'd be in China?
Thomas
Hi Pta, if you're in China, you would need a VPN that able to connect to Firebase to sync notes. It's not ideal but there're not much we can do about it. Chinese law requires the data to be stored in a server inside China, which is not something that we can afford :(
Ronald Fabian Macias Quijije
I found it in the Windows Store and it is just what I needed for its simplicity
Alex Papageorge
Looks good! Can you integrate with 3rd parties? For me specifically, substack?
Thomas
@alex_papageorge Thanks for asking, we don't integrate with any 3rd parties yet, however your notes can be exported to various formats like text or markdown that you may import to other systems :)
dev fric
Almost like OneNote
Jaslyn
@fric I actually find it much easier to write in UpNote vs adding the textbox in OneNote. I've been trying UpNote since last night and so far it seems much more intuitive to organize my notes there.
Rogemar Bravo
This is nice, I have tried the free plan. Would just like to ask, if compared to Microsoft OneNote, what is the feature advantage of UpNote? The premium plan is not yet available in Microsoft store, so I wonder how much is the cost. Thank you and congrats!
Thomas
@rogemar_bravo thanks for asking :). UpNote is designed differently from OneNote. It’s hard for me to say what’s advantage, how about you try it out and let us know? Thanks!
Thomas
@rogemar_bravo UpNote is currently offered at $14.9 for all platforms :). Sorry that upgrade is not available on Windows yet, we will look at it in the future!
Rogemar Bravo
@thomasdao thank you for the quick response. I had a side by side comparison between UpNote and OneNote, I must say that I'm more encourage to write notes using UpNote. The UI and UX is great in my use case. Is the cost a one time payment? Looking forward for the premium, when already available for Windows and Android.
Thomas
@rogemar_bravo Yes it's one-time payment. Thanks for the encouraging feedback, we will definitely notify you when Android is available :)
