Upstream — GPT for a less noisy web

Tired of looking at ads and SEO instead of information? Upstream is a Chrome extension that lets users run GPT with their Chrome tabs as context. Instead of scrolling through the noisy web, fire up an Upstream instruction to only get what you need.

Great product. It works very well for summarizing news and blogs!
Pablo
@josephholguin Thanks Joseph! One of my favorites prompts is: "What's the takeaway?" Good for getting to the point of an article

Nice! Any plans for a Safari version? :)
Pablo
@alexanderspoor Thanks for the suggestion, for now I think focusing on making it easy and useful is plenty. Maybe in the future!

Fantastic extension. Bravo on the launch. Wishlist: - Safari extension - Suggestion prompts - Buying credit using crypto - iOS and iPadOS apps - Integration with Read-It-Later services - Buttons for summarizing articles
Pablo
@nimasakhtemani Thanks for the wishlist! Suggestion prompts will be up very soon

Pablo
@ronankmcgovern Thanks, let me know how you like it!

I love this implementation @pablofelgueres! I see that I have 15 credits after signing up. What does that translate to?
Pablo
@michael_murphy2 Hey Michael, thanks for the question. 1 credit translates to one query

probably the best product I found today. didn't try but video looks great. whats the monetization plan? is it gpt or openai? congratulations on the launch
Pablo
@naveed_rehman Uses OpenAI. Plan is to understand top 5 tasks that would save people time and try to make it really easy to run for those, monetization will come after.

I made a Discord for support and ideas on how to make Upstream amazing: https://discord.gg/JcMU2neVGb

Hi PH, I'm building Upstream because I'm tired of looking at news, ads and SEO when I'm looking for information. Upstream is a Chrome Extension that lets users easily run GPT on any website. It does the usual things like writing about a topic, summarizing and simplifying content, the difference is that it gathers context automatically from your Chrome tabs. So instead of scrolling through the noisy web, fire up an instruction to only get what you need.

@pablofelgueres Wow I'm loving this, I tried it on this page with the prompt "Create a list of all the comments made in this post" and it worked!
Louison Dumont
Great product! Curious: - Do you plan on expanding the list of features? - How do you see this becoming a part of everybody's web browsing?
Pablo
@metatanka hey! Still gathering feedback but the immediate improvements are 1) query suggestions based on URL, 2) searchable history of runs, 3) prevent model invocation if context is not good (saves credits). Do you have any suggestions?
Jerome Lefebre
As much as I get distracted in the real world, I see great potential for this extension.
Pablo
@jerome_lefebre It's already hard and AI will make it even harder. I hope this tool inspires many more to filter out noise.

Just tried a few different sites and it was AMAZING! 🚀🚀Congratulations on the launch!

Awesome, nice work. Looks useful. 🔥 What's on the roadmap next?
Pablo
@saasdesigner There's a few obvious things to add like presets and search history but want to listen to users.
shankarling Kalashetty
this seems super useful, clears up the clutter and cuts out the distraction. Great idea. Can't wait to try it out. Congrats on the launch.
Pablo
@shankarling_kalashetty Thanks! Lets me know how you like it here or at hi@upstreamapi.com
Richard Gao
Interesting use case of GPT-3! Much better than all the writing apps I see lol.
Pablo
@richard_gao2 Right, GPT will be used to generate noise but also to minimize it. I hope tools like Upstream inspire more of the latter !
