This new feature makes Userlist an automation powerhouse for product-led growth 🔥 Now you can build complex omnichannel campaigns, use advanced logic, and run A/B tests. All while enjoying the recognizable simplicity of Userlist.
Hey ProductHunt! It’s been a while since we last launched a major feature, but it feels good to be back 😊
At its core, Userlist has always been an automation tool that happens to send emails. It’s the way we architected and designed the application when we started out in 2017. There are a handful of systems that work together as building blocks (Yes, I’ve always enjoyed playing with Lego) to power everything.
So far, our campaigns have been a thin presentation layer on top of one of those systems: the automation engine. The automation engine is essentially a programming language. It has various statements (like conditions, loops, and delays) and a couple of built in functions (like sending messages). All of these components, are pretty self contained and can be composed into more complex functionality.
We’re super excited to finally release our visual workflow builder that exposes these building blocks for everyone to use. While it’s “just” a new presentation layer on existing systems, it’s a huge step forward for Userlist as a product.
Building campaigns is much more flexible now. Instead of just having conditions on messages that define whether or not it’s send, you can now build more complex flows that are also easier to grasp just by looking at them.
This is only the beginning. We’re excited about the new opportunities this new way of building automations opens up. We’ve got some exciting things in the pipeline.
I've been a happy Userlist customer for years. Super exited about where it's headed.
My favourite part of this new feature is "Send Internal Note". I can easily set up a workflow that emails me each time a new customer reaches a milestone. This way I can experiment with manually sending personal emails to people before automating completely.
These kinds of workflow builders often feel slow/janky. My experience so far with Userlist's has been faster then expected and flawless. This feature is a user facing demonstration of how high quality a product Userlist is.
Love the visual approach and it looks beautiful. Also seems like you can really do a lot within the workflow builder rather than having to go to a bunch of other places in the product. Will take a deeper look.
As a fan of visual boards, this product looks great!
I'll share it with our internal team today and provide feedback asap, but great job and congrats on the launch!
Even though I'm a developer, I think this was what I actually needed to get myself properly using Userlist, thank you! Can't wait to see what you have in the pipeline.
