Turn any device into a performance workstation with Vagon. Run all challenging software from any device with your own supercomputer on the cloud. Boost your creative performance with Vagon.
Can you clarify the licensing of apps? Are customers expected to come with existing paid licenses for eg. Adobe? Or do you have agreements with the app providers? The pitch and website don't really say
This is awesome! I've been thinking of something like this for a while and boom you guys have it already.
I do have a few questions though
?makers -
1) Does this just work like those old IT Remote Login Desktops that firms like Accenture etc have been using for years with the Monitor and Desktop simply working as thin clients?
2) Where does the OS live and is it OS agnostic - Would be interesting if a User has a old Mac Air or weak budget Windows Laptop and suddenly can make it think it has vastly more processing power
3) Where do the licenses for the apps live - If a designer has photoshop on their laptop can they use the same license and just turn on the boost or do they have to install a license on the Vagon Cloud Computer to be able to use it?
@stuli1989 First of all thanks for your support and questions. Let me answers your questions like this.
1) Vagon works on your computer with any browser (HTML5 supported of course). It consumes resources as much as YouTube or Vimeo.
2) Your Vagon computer is your powerful cloud computer. Right now, we can only give you a windows machine but we are working on Linux and macOS ones too. And also yes definitely os agnostic, you can use Vagon with any computer with any browser
3) Bring your own license. It is your personal computer you can install or remove any software with your license :)
Wow, this looks awesome. During quarantine I've tried teaching myself Blender but was frustrated with render times on my laptop. I'll definitely try this out--thanks!
Hello @andymerskin! I think we missed your question after the release day. ๐ In short, in addition to the high-performance cloud computer experience, we are trying to ease the remote workflow of the creatives with specific features.
You can create and run your Vagon computer with just a few clicks, you don't need to know any cloud terminology or any unnecessary information. Just click run and here is your Vagon computer running inside of your browser.
For example, handling huge files on the cloud is not too easy for creatives while they are dealing with TBs of huge files. With Vagon Files we are providing a solution to ease file/folder integration issues.
Also, creatives are using too many different apps, for modelling, animating, simulating, etc. We developed Vagon Computer Composer to provide an easy onboarding process for creatives. You can choose the apps you would like to use in Vagon while creating your computer, and they will be ready to use in your Vagon computer when you connect to it.
In addition to that, both when creatives are working on projects and when it comes to sharing the project results with the client, it's really hard to hand off projects. Currently, we are working on our collaboration features to enable creatives to be able to collaborate with others in one computer session at the same time.
.. and much more!
We are always adding new features to Vagon, stay tuned for more.
Wow, I love this idea. I feel like I always run out of computing power during two specific scenarios:
1. While doing a bunch of MATLAB processing. Could take 50 hours on my laptop.
2. While presenting during workshops. I have to run so many apps on top of Zoom, things slow way down.
Are these appropriate use cases?
Hello @nathandofrango! Exactly works for all those use cases.
1- You can install MATLAB, transfer your project to Vagon and run it on Vagon with better performance.
2- Now, you can directly share your Vagon tab in your meetings. In addition to that, we are working on our collaboration features, and they will be available soon. You will be able to share your Vagon screen and directly present from there. ๐
@srdrdmrrn Cool! So if I used it to replace my desktop computer it would be $2k/year, assuming a 2k hour work year? And I guess that would be better than upgrading my computer for $2k every year because you'll keep the computers upgraded?

Hello @glen_creaser! You can check the pricing details from www.vagon.io/pricing ๐
In short, $7.99/month to store your computer data, and your performance usages on top of that by minutes.
This just made my day :) Now no more buying high speed systems that are used so rarely that the investment really doesn't make much sense. I'm glad the browser is becoming mini-computer, and in this case, SUPER COMPUTER :)
@adityavsc Thank you! That's exactly the point of Vagon :) We're also extending capabilities of PCs with integrated tools like Computer Composer and Collaboration (coming soon!) so stay tuned.
