Fascinating. I pre-ordered a Hidrate smart water bottle (https://www.producthunt.com/tech...) earlier this year, hadn't even heard of Pryme Vessyl. Looks like it's already shipping and even sold in the Apple Store? This video is strange.
Nic Barnes
@thetylerhayes I love that you called the video "strange". :-) We want to challenge people's current perception of hydration. So if you leave the video asking "is water really that important?" or "do doctors really need to be at their 'pryme' for surgery?" The true answer is "yes", even though some folks might think of it as overly dramatic.

@nichbarnes @thetylerhayes Cool. I actually didn't leave the video wondering that though. Like I mentioned I bought a Hidrate, so I'm totally in on the concept. Let me add some color: the tone is weird, the music is wrong, the story feels forced. It's like the uncanny valley of product videos. Anyway, I like the concept. GLHF!

@thetylerhayes Thanks for the feedback Tyler. I appreciate the candor.

Interesting... This used to be called just "Vessyl" and would track not only water but all types of liquids you drank by automatically detecting what was in the "vessyl". I had two on pre-order from well over a year and a half ago and recently cancelled it due to the lack of status updates - glad I did as it seems they had to change direction for one reason or another.
Kevin Zittle
@joshuapinter They're still working on Vessyl but introduced this in the meantime. Offered it for free to every Vessyl backer in addition to the Vessyl they will get when it's done.
Joshua Pinter
@kevinz Well, now I wish I didn't cancel my order. ;)
Nic Barnes
@joshuapinter @arintoker Sorry for the delays on Vessyl. We know it's frustrating, but we refuse to put product out that doesn't meet the levels of accuracy and reliability to get people healthier. We'll continue to improve on Vessyl. You should try Pryme though, it might surprise you.
Andrew Bills
@joshuapinter It's actually a little braver than that.... they havent delivered the first one yet (multiple delays) but sent a thing out to all the backers saying they could upgrade (but it would cancel their original and they wouldnt be able to cancel this upgrade if they want to later). Im not sure sending a thing to your backers you havent delivered to yet on the same day as announcing a delay asking them to back a better version of something you havent released yet is.... wise.
Joshua Pinter
@evilspyboy Hmm... @KevinA says that they are giving this Pryme Vessyl away for free to backers of the original Vessyl, not asking them to back this one as well.
Kevin Zittle
I've been watching Pryme for a while when I backed their original product. Looks like they were having issues nailing down the sensor to capture nutritional info, so they made a water-only version. Looks great and can't wait to get my hands on it. Downside: $99 is an expensive water bottle!
Nic Barnes
@kevinz Thanks for the support Kevin! As I always tell folks, you just need to experience the benefits of being at your Pryme. It's personally changed my behavior (drastically). People will be skeptical because we are challenging the current myths around hydration, but experiencing it is a whole different conversation.
Kevin Zittle
@nichbarnes for sure and thanks for rewarding those of us who have stuck with you all! Any idea on when Pryme's will be shipping out? I clicked as soon as I got the email. :)
Nic Barnes
@kevinz the retail demand was a bit more than expected, which really threw us off. We're working to build more inventory so we can start shipping out your Pryme.

I cancelled mine as well and went with HidrateMe now called HidrateSpark. I think they are semi-pivoting even though they claim to still be working on the original project Vessyl. But I lost interested after months and months of no updates they basically took the Kickstarter money and never delivered. It's become a trend lately!

My wife and I tried one, didn't work, and then they sent us another one. Doesn't work. I don't suggest getting this product. It doesn't really work. But we are still out $100.
Evan Buhler
This is a great concept - how effective is Pryme without added activity data from wearables?
Nic Barnes
@ebuhls Thanks Evan! Pryme connects with activity trackers like Apple Watch (Apple Health) and Jawbone Up. As you know, activity plays a significant role in your hydration needs throughout the day, so it is imperative that we include it in Pryme.

I've been looking for an app that will track my water intake. I don't drink enough water, and need some accountability help.
Nic Barnes
@khw77 This is a very common issue, especially among busy professionals. Pryme is taking it a step further with the goal of keeping you optimally hydrated throughout the day, so that you are always at your best. It's not about how much you need in a day, it's about how much you need right now to be at your best. I'd be happy to answer any questions about the product/app or overall experience.

I was a backer from about 2 years ago and still haven't gotten my Vessyl or the Pryme Vessyl they promised for still not shipping the original product. This company is starting to feel really scam-y to me. Maybe it's time I ask for my money back, they are looking to ship to the masses without any consideration for the people that supported them from the very beginning. Awful, just awful.
Michael Wakefield
@kangaroo5383 Same boat Jessica. Ordered a couple of years ago and still waiting for the Pryme, Vessyl
