Here’s a snapshot of what this looks like for Americans: I suppose I take my passport for granted. Citizens from many other countries don't have this flexibility.
HaKr
@rrhoover yes 200 countries to be exact! πŸ˜‰

πŸ‘‹ Hello Product Hunters! :) I spent the last 6 months trying to build Visalist Now your quest for tension free visa requirements research is over: πŸ“– Story A year back I became a digital nomad and started traveling. I wanted to visit all the countries that I fancied. Soon I realized that you need a visa to most of these countries, few have VOA(Visa on Arrival) and for others, you have to get it through their embassy in home country(in my case India). So now I wanted to see the countries I could go without waiting for 3 weeks to get a visa, did some research. After few blogs and websites finally got the list. Traveled to a new country. After a few months I wanted to go to another country. I had to do the same search, couldn't find the old one, found a new site which had more countries offering VOA. One of my friends told me that when he researching for Vietnam visa, he found almost 10 websites with .gov and it was really confusing. Many blogs don't have links to official websites of embassies. 😀 Problem * No aggregated info of visa related info shown in a useful way. * Most of the existing blogs and website has very less info and are usually outdated. * Lot of research is needed even to go to a single country and this needs to be done every single time. * Difficult to find the official website and data on many websites is outdated. * Pay more than required money to visa agent's πŸ›  Solution So I decided to aggregate this info, organize and present it in a useful way to a user and so Visalist was born. While I was talking to my friends about this, I realized many people wanted something similar from a long time. So what this has is * A simple way to find the basic requirements for all the countries you want to travel * Simplified visa requirements like visa-free, visa on arrival, visa not required, evisa, visa required and visa refused (Yes! For North Korea) * A simple map color-coded with visa requirements across the world so you can easily see which countries around you can easily travel to * Visa Requirement details like duration, documents checklist and other requirements for the stay * Which is the official website for that information πŸ’‘Things to do * Currently only top 50 countries documents checklist have been gathered. I’m constantly adding more countries every hour! So watch out. * Crowdsourced data is essential, so need to build mechanism so other users can contribute and give feedback as well. * Once the Tourist visa for all countries is covered, I want to add Work visa for countries across the world. We Digital nomads love that. 🐞 How good is it? It definitely noob friendly. It's only been a very short period, so expect some bugs. I will keep adding new features. πŸ›  Making I coded, designed and built Visa List using VueJS with NuxtJS for the frontend, MySQL for backend using Golang. I was originally an android developer and learned these just to build Visa List. πŸ’– Feedback I think every person to explore the world around them and would have faced the problem I faced, so could find value in what I have built. So I would love to know what you think of this and would be more than happy to hear your suggestions and feature requests. Let me know what you want to be added or removed or do I need to build something entirely! Thanks, HaKr! PS: I would like to thank @siddharthkp for the Intro video and @amitchhajer , @ankitjain for their support

@1hakr amazing I literally tweeted requesting a site like this about ten minutes ago! I’d love to be able to enter my dates of travel to that country and have the options of what I need and how to get it. (Let me know if I’ve just overlooked this)
HaKr
@bentossell I'm glad you found it useful. Currently there is no option for dates but in the visa details page, you do have document checklist, visa application link and more info!
RossBOSSk
@bentossell @1hakr I have a list of all countries and their visa requirements if you are interested. It's in GSheets form. I tried to make this idea as a bot but decided to go a different direction. Would also love to host you on a little list of travel tools I am creating. πŸ˜ƒ
HaKr
@bentossell @ross_kinkade that's wonderful news

For a russian resident (such as myself) visa is a critical point. When I'm choosing where to go and each my traveling starts from making a list of all accessible countries.

All the visa requirements data is shattered across hundreds of forum and blog posts: some are outdated, some are just false. It's also difficult to search visa info in official websites because they look like shit and hard to navigate.

Now I will start my traveling with VisaList 😌

Good luck Hari and thanks for the awesome product!

Pros:

Simplicity

Cons:

None

@1hakr This is simply brilliant! Loved the UX, especially what you did around the interactive map πŸ˜ƒ. Curious - what sort of updates would you be sharing if I subscribe to the website?
HaKr
Thanks, @tmatthewj So I wanted to share the latest visa changes that keep happening, like last month turkey remove visa-on-arrival. I believe updates like these will be super useful to travelers.
Arpit Choudhury
This is spot on. This is such a common problem that nobody has solved so far simply due to the vastness and unreliability of the info available across the web. Kudos to you for being able to do it and that too so wonderfully. Would love to see info for business visas like you mentioned. Cheers and best of luck!
HaKr
@irhymeth thank you, stay tuned I'm adding lots of useful features everyday based on community feedback!
Akshay Kadam(A2K)

It is a lot of pain to find visa requirements manually every time you visit some other country. This is the perfect website for those people :)

Pros:

Useful for Digital Nomads

Cons:

None

It is amazing Hari, I love the idea, love its UX too, but one and the only thing I would like to give comment is it would be better if you make the colors of VISA FREE and VISA ON ARRIVAL more distinguishable. Upvoted!
HaKr
@nhuphan0404 I'm very happy that you find it useful and thanks a lot for the feedback.
Maksim Gorodov
@1hakr that's an awesome project! The only thing that bothers me is the correctness of the information. What if some information on this website is wrong and you don't even know it?
HaKr
@silencerweb I'm working on adding crowdsourcing features
Dmitry A.
For Russian citizens Cyprus have an option of E-Visa if you're taking direct flight from Russia. Hope this will be updated soon. Great project will use it for sure πŸ‘πŸŽ‰ P.S. ads are fine
HaKr
@dr_dimitru definitely! Thanks a lot.

Very convenient way to see where your passport allows you to go, and the visa requirements for each country.

There's also a bit of additional information for each country (eg: currency, time difference).

I think the product overall is good and has potential, I'm just a bit disappointed in ads because I really don't like them, and I think they make the interface a bit cluttered.

Pros:

Straight to the point, easy to use

Cons:

Ads (I'm not a fan)

Looks really good! Could you add some data about Puerto Rico? It doesn't seem to be included as destiny (message: "Puerto Rico (PRI) : Data not available") and we could use some help with tourism πŸ™‚. Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States, so same rules apply in terms of visas (if you can go to the US without a visa, you can also go to Puerto Rico). Same for the US Virgin Islands.
HaKr
@haroldpadilla thanks! I will add it soon!
HaKr
Hey @haroldpadilla, I just added Puerto Rico as a destination

Nice. Very tidy design with fast loading datas!!! Great job Hari 😼 It's really bit moment but footer was bliked when infinite scrolling was started. But not a big deal hehe. Congrat again !
HaKr
@minhoko oh yay! The lazy loading needs improvement! Thanks a lot. Point noted.
Taishi Kato

If I can save country as a favorite, I really love this.

Pros:

Easy to know which country I can go with/without VISA

Cons:

Liking country function

Alex MacGregor
Looks like an interesting service! Most of my colleagues are Chinese nationals and are always travelling to various places - would definitely help!
Michael Gubik

E.g. German going to Indonesia VisaList states "Visa is not required for a certain period, or there is freedom of movement" which is wrong. There's a visa on arrival which allows you to stay for 30 days but cannot be extended and another one which can be extended once for up to 60 days total.

This will be a very valuable resource once all this information is on there.

Pros:

Good idea

Cons:

Wrong and/or inaccurate data

Edgardo RamΓrez

Make this global because this is a topic that most people want to know when they are ready to travel.

Pros:

Very well organized

Cons:

None

That is a very useful app, especially for the people which don't have the strongest passports. Anyway, we all have to remember that many countries made the visa application process much easier these days. All we need to do - check if we are eligible to do everything online. Just recently i applied for my tourist visa to East Africa here https://evisa.express/en/east-af... and was surprised how fast and easy the whole process was. Few years ago it took me many weeks to collect all the documents, get an appointment in the embassy and wait in a long queue for the interview.
Rafael Harutyunyan
Great implementation. I've used wiki before for this. 2 things: 1. It is not about your home country but about your passport , so it should be "From which country is your passport" 2. Sometimes, when you have residency in one country, you can travel to another, those cases are not being taken into account.
HaKr
@rafhar Thanks, I'm working on these changes
HaKr
@rafhar added these new features. go give it a try!
Cathleen Madrona
Super cool! Love that each country's card has useful information about languages spoken, its currency, and how many hours ahead or behind from my timezone. This will be really useful to lots of people I know. Thanks, upvoted!
HaKr
@cathleenmadrona I'm glad you found it useful. Thank you very much. Do share this with your friends and colleagues and spread #TensionFreeTravel

Pros:

very useful and amazing idea especially the one with visa exception its amazing and new

Cons:

nothing very perfect just keep it updating as if new rules are imposed by countries on every other countries frequently
